hey "dudewiththefood" you put up the update in place of the guide instead of tacking it on to the end.

could you update the ipod tutorial of the first post and says to check this page on wikitemp which is more complete ?
    thanks ^^

i compiled ipod firmware for each devices using the last hermes v3 + patches fix by waninkoko and mathieulh.

here are my compiled versions :

patch hermes v3 from nemsia + replaced port1_config_descriptor using this one :
psgroove hermes v3 + patch hermes, waninkoko, mathieulh
    Hermes V3+Fix
    ipod 4g grayscale rockbox.ipod
    ipod 4g color/photo rockbox.ipod
    ipod video (5g/5.5g) rockbox.ipod
    ipod mini 1g rockbox.ipod
    ipod mini 2g rockbox.ipod
    ipod nano 1g rockbox.ipod
    sansa c200 rockbox.mi4
    sansa e200 rockbox.mi4

    Rockbox PSGroove Hermes v4 :
Sorry, my previous compiles were v3 without fix, I applied the wrong patch [IMG]
here are the real v4 (from v4b) :
    ipod 4g grayscale rockbox.ipod
    ipod 4g color/photo rockbox.ipod
    ipod video (5g/5.5g) rockbox.ipod
    ipod mini 1g rockbox.ipod
    ipod mini 2g rockbox.ipod
    ipod nano 1g rockbox.ipod
    sansa c200 rockbox.mi4
    sansa e200 rockbox.mi4

More PSGroove Rockbox with Hermes v4 here

    PL3 Rockbox 2010 10 17, for 3.01, 3.15 and 3.41 : here

if you want to retain the rockbox mp3 player functionality, you must use the rockbox revision 28160. i have these builds if needed, though i got a report that psgoove is not working with my rockbox complete files.

BlackCatUSB should use the same file as Teensy 1.0 (well, I think, because they are usually tags together and use the same chipset).
    did you look here : http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/PS3_Jailbreaking_Devices_List ?
I'm trying to maintain that list, but sometime some links become dead.

I updated the list with Hermes V4 and few recent PL3.

    Note for rockbox fimrwares :

You can have multiple firmware on your device and retain all the music and USB functionnality on first boot.
Then, using the file explorer on your device, you can load any .ipod file to run the new firmware.
that way, you can have :

    .rockbox/rockbox.ipod

    as seen on: http://psfreedom.com/wiki/IPhoneLinux

    tested personally on firmware 4.1 on a iphone 3G for a PS3 3.15 fat... JB's fine.

    Either Gaia 1.02 or OM2.1g
They both include the latest PL3 possibilities too (like playing newer games on older Firmware, except for 3.50games).

Sorry to be annoying, but on the Ipod part on the first post you gave only the download links to .ipod files, but you didn't link to the tutorial explaining how to install these files.
    Tutorial : here

List of PSGroove compatible devices and their payload files : here (for many devices, I tried to maintain the list, but there are a lot of them)

Another new compatible device for PSGroove : TI-89 Titanium
and the TI-89 external payload files : here

    Any reason to use Jurai's?

I've seen pictures of it and it looks really pretty.

Popped in to have a look and I can't help but notice that the N900 information is out of date. Currently there is a PSFreedom application in the maemo extras-devel repo. Along with PL3 and hermes payload support there is also a step-by-step walkthrough on triggering the jailbreak. There is also a shortcut in the application for quick access to the PS Jailbreak Compatibility List.

Yeah, there have been a lot of updates in few days.
That's why I started to transcribe the first post to the Wiki, so everyone can update the informations.

Currently, I had time to make only a quick compatible device list and the rockbox port.

There's not all the devices on the list yet.
Maybe making a new page with a quick guide on explaining what jailbreaking is, what it needs, etc. (mixing rydian FAQ thread with this thread information), would help users, and it will be easier to maintain.
Then each device its own page, like my rockbox one.
A list with commercial dongle can be helpful too, with details on each one capabilities (updatable, which hex file, etc.).

I'll add some more pages when I'll have time.

Jurai is counter-producing for the Open source community.
he doesn't give sources, infringing GPL licenses.

He even released a fake backup manager which deletes every installed games on your internal HDD.
Do not ever support anything from Jurai.

Moh.sakkai (author of the first Open manager mod) said he will quit the scene because of him, bad homebrew spirit è_é
Then, he decided to stay, but merge their effort with other "good" homebrew authors

Gotcha, I'll go w/ OM2.1 I, as there are some very nice themes for it.

You need to place the files.pkg at the root of a "normal" USB device.
If you place the .pkg on a PSGroove'd rockbox you need to reboot in "Disk mode"*, because it you boot in PSGroove the device is not recognized as a USB HDD but as a USB HUB.

    * Disk mode :
on an iPod, reboot the device (Menu+select ~6 sec), then when booting push Menu+play (keep pushed until disk mode appear on screen)

I don't know for Sansa, but it should work the same.

holy crap this tutorial needs to be upgraded a little bit, it only got me asking more questions, good thing i know how to google, anyway, disk mode for sansa is holding Rewind + Power Button, and if anyone messes anything up too bad, recovery mode for sansa is turn off, put in lock mode, hold record button, and turn on, plug into pc-usb, you'll get a 16mb partition on my computer, insert a sansa.fmt(txt file or folder name) into the root, and safely remove hardware

Are people still finding out new ways to JB? I'm wondering what are the odds of an nano 4g or HTC Hero port since I see similar devices on the list

There is no major new devices port since the ipod one (with CPU PP502x).
Even PSFreedom website doesn't seem to have new chipset compatibility in their chart. only the MSM72K chipset is still updated (Samsung Galaxy I7500 being the last updated one).

I think there are not a lot of people knowing how to port the exploit to new devices.

Ah, the last one is a new calculator port (the Ti89).
