[CONFIRMED AND ON SALE] GAME confirms Shovel Knight amiibo

630x

After a few rumors started floating around of Shovel Knight being a possible addition to Smash Bros, the European retail store. GAME, posted a tweet telling customers to get ready to pre-order a Shovel Knight amiibo. According to the listing, scanning the amiibo will unlock exclusive content in the 3DS/Wii U versions of Shovel Knight. While this doesn't confirm Shovel Knight for Smash Bros, it's certainly interesting, seeing Nintendo make an amiibo figure for an indie game.

The amiibo is set to be released on November 27th in the UK.

Are you f%$#ing serious? ammibo is just some loophole to make users pay for locked content without the dreaded acronym "DLC". Not cheap DLC either. Splatoon I can find online for $50, the 3 ammibo's are another $50. Its a good thing ammibo has been hacked. Ninty can't milk as much money out of this s@?# anymore.

Rarely is the amiibo dlc content "must have" anyway. Think of this as an action figure first with some micro DLC thrown in as a bonus. Nothing to throw fits about.

I agree. People raged about the Splatoon amiibo locking content, but the stuff the amiibo unlocked wasn't really a huge deal. To my understanding, they just allowed you to replay the same stages from story mode, just with a different weapon. That, and some momentarily flashy gear.

Needless to say, I have yet to use mine.

Actual merch for games is always sweet. It's impossible to find anything for a relatively cheap price when it comes to Xenoblade or Mega Man, so a Shovel Knight figure is always welcome. Bonus points if what it unlocks is neat.

Amiibo are better than toys - in the future, i will be throwing out/giving away my kids' toys. I will NEVER throw away Amiibo. Maybe sell, maybe trade but definitely not in the garbage.

The retail value of amiibos isn't going to increase like it used to because the "rare" amiibos were all restocked, so if anyhing, selling them now or later will have a lower value. Scalpers have been done in by Nintendo.

Anyway, some amiibos look good but the detail and size are comparable to the McDonald's Mario toys I got last year. Which is to say, amiibos are overpriced but to make up for it they include physical DLC.

Doesn't matter. If they deny and are lying they're only damaging their reputation for a fucking toy.
"Damaging their reputation for a fucking toy"? How about they're under NDA? If they did make a deal with Nintendo for all sorts of craziness like this, there's a fair chance they're not allowed to randomly talk about it for a while.

"We can't comment on this right now" would have been a better response as the one they gave just kills it straight away.

Btw, why the hell is there no space between the tag and the title of the topic? Also, no need to have wrote it all in caps. That's just stupid.

might as well add the original tweet seems to have disappeared from @gamebrighton. nintendo might have wanted to sweep this under the rug, or @gamebrighton removed it for some other reason.

Ah, I suppose a "no comment" (or completely ignoring it, lol) would be more likely in that case. Still doesn't rule it out completely, but yeah, I didn't think about that.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.
