Hey, I'm still a little new to this But is it possible to play a Japanese GameBoy game on 3ds without Needing to unregion lock it? I already have the .cia file I just want to make sure this won't break my console.

I'm pretty sure region coding wasn't a thing with the original GameBoy. The only thing that makes it Japanese is the text in the game. The DSi is the first Nintendo handheld with a region lock, if I remember right.

Now, that said, you're talking about a cia file, which is probably a different animal altogether.

If you're installing .cia files, you already have Luma installed and should no longer have any concerns about region unlocking.

The Japanese Game Boy game is still going to be in Japanese, of course.
