Animal Crossing New Leaf receiving an update to add amiibo support

Nintendo has announced that an update is coming to Animal Crossing: New Leaf which came out about 4 years ago. This new update is going to add amiibo support to the game which includes the animal crossing amiibo cards and figurines. Scanning an amiibo card will make the villager arrive in your town but it is currently unknown what the figurines will do. You will also be able to scan amiibo from other series to get costumes and furniture like a squid sisters costume.​

I didn't think this game would ever see an update. Color me surprised, just might have to play it again.
