Wait, don't I need to format the 3DS to downgrade?

By the way, I don't plan to downgrade, I would like to stay on 9.2-20 but if it updates to 9.4 while formatting, then I guess I will downgrade...

You don't need to format to downgrade AFAIK. Just downgrade via your correct region downgrade file and you'll be on 4.2 or 4.5 depending on your region. If you have an emunand partition which by now you should it will stay untouched meaning all your cia games and cia saves will stay untouched. After you downgraded just go and format your sysnand. This will unlink your emunand with sysnand get rid of your nag problem

Okay I think I got it. IIRC you don't need a GW Red Card to downgrade, or do you?

Or does it create the emuNAND while downgrading? And if I like in EU, it will be 4.2 right? or 4.5? I need confirm if 4.2 works with Gateway

emuNand is stored on your SD so I would place a safe bet that .cia games are there too since you install them on your emunand.

I've got a 9.2 3DS XL and no gateway or other flashcards.
I was thinking about buying a gateway to downgrade it and play all my games on one card.
But you know, I bought games and saved with the 9.2 firmware. And I don't want to loose my Pokemon savegame for example.

All my games are retail cards. Is there something I can do to backup the save and play it using a gateway with the downgraded sysnand? Or at least, is it possible to play Pokémon OR (I played it with my 9.2 system) from the retail card using emunand or sysnand or whatever on a 4.5 downgraded 3DS?
I don't want to loose that save.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is a cartridge's save file different if the game was saved in Gateway's Classic Mode as opposed to legit firmware? And if so, does anyone have info that might confirm this would cause problems with Powersaves?

I've been using 9.x Gateway Classic Mode to launch my legit Pokémon Omega Ruby cart but haven't been able to use Powersaves, and I think that Datel's servers just don't like the Gateway Classic Mode save (if the saves are indeed different).

I am curious about this too. I have a Powersaves 3DS and am thinking about getting a Gateway.

Hey, I have a question about Gateway and CARD2 games.
I remember when playing a retail Pokémon X cartridge (which is CARD2) that saving is almost instantaneous. However, recently I've been trying out Tomodachi Life (which is also a CARD2 game) on Gateway and saving with this takes over 11 seconds. Now, I didn't expect it to be instantaneous like Pokémon, but this difference is pretty huge! (Pokémon was like 0.11 seconds instead of 11 seconds.)
Is this normal or is something wrong somewhere?

No and Yes. Of course if you take the card out you can't play roms.

Got a 2nd hand 3ds today and it's running 7.2.0-0E, it was wiped prior to my buying it.

Trying to get the go.gateway-3ds.com hack working to downgrade but it keeps coming up with "The internet browser will become available once you update your system via the internet. For details, visit support.nintendo.com."

Weary of upgrading as it'd obviously push me to 9.4 and therfore kill any chances of this gateway hack working.

There's no QR reader in the photo app (that I can see) and Miimaker's QR reader comes up with "The QR code does not contain a Mii."

From what I can see the Gateway card currently being shipped to me is useless without being able to run this hack...

Is there any way of getting the browser to work without FW updating? Maybe via a game cart? The only lists for games with FW updates I've been able to find on gbatemp show for US games (it's an AUS / EU model) and only FW versions below 5.0.

I'm having the same problem. I will keep using the browser exploit and stay on 9.2 as it seems there's no solution to preserve your retail card saves. Maybe the guys at Gateway will release a Save Converter someday.

I guess your SD card (the big one inside your 3DS) isn't the fastest. I experienced the same before I switched to my class 10 card.

GBA doesn't work (yet), GBC seems to work (I tested Super Mario Bros. Deluxe).

Hello there, I have a question.. I have bought a 2nd hand SM3DL and found out that there are saves in it and I can also play it..


With that I had a question come into mind.. Will it be possible to play a newer game(like Persona Q) on gateway Emunand 9.4 and still be able to play the saved game on the cart on a legit 3DS with 9.4 Sysnand, and also play <4.x carts on sysnand.. I have MH3U, PxZ and Mario games..


I would like to buy gateway only to preserve my 4.5 and play imports.


And also what is the Classic mode for gateway?

After ripping my copy of Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, I saw that it was split into two files, AYTE.3D0 and AYTE.3D1. If I want to convert the game into a .CIA file, do I have to merge the ROM in order to do so, and if so, how do I go about doing that? Thanks in advance for any advice given.
