I will never try betas. I've never been afraid of bricks until now... Does piracy brick?
If you use mt-card or dstwo+ you may get a brick, also if you install wrong system cias on your 3ds.
If you just use roms with sky3ds or gateway 3ds you will be safe, also if you install trusted cias from rom sites. Rxtool is also safe and probably the best option

Well I can't get a flashcard... I'll probably use Citra and see if those cias are legit, but not all games run...

9.6.0 (Yes I'm part of the stupid gatewait. Things are so much easier on Wii U)
In the next couple of weeks you will be able to downgrade your 3ds back to 9.2 and after that you will be able to install rxtools. My wiiu is on 5.4 so im still waiting for hykem to launch the exploit..

But I don't know if I should trust it. Guess I'll wait for some reports.

Quick question. I'm not doubting you, but what evidence have we been given so far to show that this is true?

Edit: Obviously we all know about the brick code. I'm talking specific examples of people using the dstwo+ and getting bricked.

A way to brick a 2ds is to install mset from 3ds, and then format it, it will ask to slide the 3d slider to max, but 2ds dont have a 3d slide. Softbrick

Piracy will brick your soul. That's why these efforts are for homebrew and learning only.

BTW, you should consider EVERYTHING on the forum to be a beta if not an alpha, all have risk, all have had people break things. The 0 day warranty period is kinda rough too :)

One guy? Bunch of guys? I was looking around and found nothing. Not saying you guys are wrong, I just need some more evidence to believe it.
One guy in the 3.6 release thread, plenty more for the 3.5/3.5.1 release.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
