I'm curious... how do you intend to port the game without the source code?, it's possible ?

Age of Empire 2. Probably impossible though.
I can probably make a port by remaking the game or learning the languge it was written in.

Let me explain: If i'm licky, i can decompile a Unity game, making it so that i can modify it in the Unity Engine itself. Like Baldi's Basics, that has been decompiled for modding purposes. I can probaby mod that too right now.

I understand, I hope you can, it would be pretty incredible to see something like Freedom Planet or even Sonic Mania running on the 3DS.

i feel like people are missing the point entirely, everyone's only suggesting unity games, while he said he was just using the engine, be creative smh

the 3ds could do with some more racing games, but i know those require an extreme fine tuning to feel right. i'd be willing to playtest since i've got way too much free time and way too much expertise in racing games

maybe carmageddon?
or (not a racing game) but descent/descent 2
re-volt?
something original like a game with graphics inspired from pa1 era racing games

Half-life or portal (the first one) would be cool. Is that too crazy?

I don’t know my unity.
impossible, half life 1 is goldSRC, portal is proper source. goldSRC ran on the ps2, source barely ran on xbox

@hatoving I admit I don't know much about porting games, but I do know that usually you'd need a game's source code to be able to do it.
You say you can decompile Unity games and recompile them for 3DS, but honestly I would be a little more convinced if you actually did it first before creating this thread.

You said Baldi was already decompiled by someone else. Maybe you could start with it and see if you can do the actual porting before having to decompile anything.

Recently i was going back to the 3DS to play some games. But then a thought came into my mind: "I can use Unity to make 3DS games, what if i port one of them?"

So i wanted to ask, what game would you most likely want to be ported to the 3DS? And yes i know it's 2020, but i wanted to see if anybody wan'ts to see a game on this device.

Keep in mind that if you want to reply and select a game, please add a game that the 3DS can handle. I'm using Unity 5.6 i believe.

Best regards and stay safe,
"hat"
night in the woods would be awesome!

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

    but that's a long shot

i think only the red mario kart edition phat was v5

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
