Aren't the same guys behind Gateway making the Stargate, though?
Pretty certainly, yes
No, NOBODY actually knows who these people are, they are just regarded as the Stargate team. People decided to make up this stupid rumor just because of how the flashcart is...Do not listen to rumors, make sure you get TRUE facts, seriously it is BS the things people try to drill into others heads..

Link please, I would love to see this.
He can tell you himself when he's around but here's one quote

Stargate is formation of few people pissed off from Sky3ds, sales/support from Gateway, and highly-skilled engineer that was scene before, then joined Datel for a while was involved with Amiibo and Powersaves and as now joined this new team as their coder, as pay is better!

People crucify anything that works in similar ways and consider it a ripoff, scam, etc. To them if the exploit isn't being used uniquely it's wrong. If its functions are similar to another product it is wrong. DS Mode on the Stargate is apparently wrong too because again people want to compare it to the R4i flashcarts and what not.
It's the same thing and it costs more. It isn't "wrong", it is just very poor value for money

Link please, I would love to see this.

It was discussed before when StarGate was first announced the Whois matched Gateway3DS info, and its basically correct, there is some part of the Gateway team involved with StarGate and there is also some ex-engineers from Sky3DS connected to the new Team, (you will NOT be seeing any updates for Sky3DS anymore, so that product is dead also), and there is new coder working with the team whom is ex-Datel engineer, and was involved before with R4 flashcarts, that is helping with the DS side of things, the team is bigger, stronger, and better that before and GW supported their product for over 4 years and still might release another final update in the new year before going open-source depending on schedule for original GW coder.

If you go thru the history of GW team and those involved, they been around for long time and worked on other flashcart products, which were greatly supported for many years, I can't get into actual brand names, due to legal reasons with closed settlement cases with Nintendo during the R4 battle years that were crazy, for a team that has spent millions on lawyers, and supported products for many years, its amazing they still care as profit is not as great as people think when it comes to producing a new flashcart and production of them.

Everyone will see soon (I know a bad word to use), as more updates and features are added, we will be updating our review soon with the results of new firmware, which is looking good, our reviewer tested over 300gb of roms this weekend, and even the region-free features (when used with CFW), and ntrboot install scripts, and once its all packaged together it will be a superior product, the SG team has even an emulator coder on staff now, and there will be custom improved emulators released over next year to support GBA, NES, VC and other roms, so over time everyone will see, but you can never please everyone, no matter what is done or said.

It's not the same thing. Is sky3ds ntrboot compatible? Does sky3ds have a DS mode? Can you select 3ds roms in ds mode with sky3ds?
It is the same as a Sky3DS and a DS flashcart and costs more than both combined. Especially when nobody wants Sky3DS carts anymore and they can be had for a good price second hand. So far there are no confirmed features that make it better than owning both, and noonday really needs both anyway (so not like there's a big convenience factor having both in one).

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

You missed the whole "Prices will go down" thing, does that not even matter? Garyopa even stated that the prices would go down eventually...
So who would want to buy one now?

The 3DS ROM selection in DS mode fixes one really big issue with sky3ds. It's still not a perfect solution but many roms are much more convenient to handle.

I like the idea of different teams coming together.

For anyone having problems with the DS Mode Homebrew (to be more specific: DLDI/FAT/Filesystem errors): you can use the DLDI patch for the MT-Card, but it has to be applied manually per ROM: https://www.dropbox.com/s/xhnqeho6rjhop6g/ace3ds_sd.dldi?dl=0

/edit
Saving seems not to work properly with this DLDI file.

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
