Not too many differences there wow. Personally I'd go with the one that has the ports that are more relevant to you because the only other real difference I'm seeing here is color. But do you really need the extra 3GB of VRAM? Seems like a big investment for little gain.

They are both fine, but the extra VRAM just isn't worth it. Shoot for a 1070/1080 (or maybe a bigger SSD because how do you live with 120GB?)

Yeah I kinda wnat to future proof it 3gb of vram is getting me nowhere, running games on ultra settings fills up to 2800gb of vram when I play fallout 4 or shadow of mordor

If you want to do that, get a more high end GPU, not just 3 more GB of VRAM

I am not playing at 4k so the 1070 isn't worth it and the ssd is used as my boot drive

edit: Also the 1070 uses two 8 pins I only have a 6+2 pin and 6 pin pcie

You don't put any games on it? It would probably help performance in games with huge open worlds

Out of those 2, msi.

Runs cooler.
Has 0rpm mode
Has backplate (doesn't do anything, but looks nicer than bare pcb).

Asus dual is basically Asus's cheap and nasty, but not blower card. Crappy fans, crappy flimsy shroud.

It helps in less games than you'd think. I've got a 240GB ssd for my os and applications. And a 3TB hdd for games. Anyway, that's neither here nor there.

Either 1060 would do just fine out of those two. At this point it's brand loyalty and I'd choose asus over msi.

3 more gb of vram isnt' gonna gain you any more fps, but upgrading to a 1070 will for sure! besides its a better option if futureproofing is what you're worried about! besides the 1060 3gb vs 6gb is only like a 5% performance metric.... so like 4 fps on games... hardly worth the effort! the 1070 on the other hand is like 40-50% performance increase!

Oh no I only want 1080p/60fps which is what I am getting now but the games I am running are going to require more vram when I play them for long

1060 with 6gb not the 3gb for 1080 p
You're future proofed with that but limited to probably a year or where you'll have to tone down settings and not be on ultra.
1070 for 2k, future proofed for 1080p ultra in about 2 years.
1080 for 4k, depending on games probably sli.

Games don't use more vram the longer you play a game!.. I'd just use the card you have till you get to the point where it is actually needed to upgrade... could be a year etc.... and cards will be cheaper, and newer options available... As far as buying another 1060 goes... just seems silly!

You need the vram if you go heavy with mods though.

the rx 570 is just a rebranded 470... same with the 580... people have literally flashed their 470 and 480's to the 5 series as its the same hardware!.. just a fun tidbit

What about the rx 480/570? both are within price (atm lol) I could do with one of those if better dx12 support

It's just not enough of an increase. You're looking at a 1080 bare minimum to get decent quality of life gain. The 1060 you have is a good card. Suffer with slightly lower than Ultra resolution until a decent upgrade is available, or spend way too much money. Those are pretty much the options.

I would suggest the MSI 1060.
Asus is a shit brand and cannot fix anything for the life of them.

They sold me a broken 1060 AND a broken motherboard when I first built my PC.

I ended up getting a Zotac 1060 and it has not failed me. Fantastic card.
