I was aiming to create a gaming computer that can run modern games decently (as my current laptop is starting to fall behind (~20 fps in Owerwatch on lowest settings, ~15-20 fps on GTA V lowest settings, ~20-25 fps in PayDay 2, you get the drill)) and is also somewhat cheap. If you have any suggestions, please share.

Get 1600X. You will be able to overclock it (And really, you should) and after overclock you will beat even Ryzen 1800.
alright. quick question, though. is this processor better than the i7 or worse? it's more than HUF 10000 cheaper.

If you drop the sound card (pretty useless when most gaming boards have Realtek 7.1 chip included), you can upgrade the CPU to a 6700K and get a beefy heatsink to overclock the chip a bit. For single core performance, Intel can't be beat.

Yeah. Way better. Games are moving onto multi-core performance and also Ryzen is best for gaming and cheaper.
You can always buy something else like more DDR4 RAM.

oh hey, you're right! it does have integrated sound! great! I think I'll go with @Felek666's 1600X recommendation, though.

Hmm, didn't Intel just announce 8th gen stuff today? May want to wait a bit to see how those perform and see if AMD fires back with anything new.

I probably won't get it right away anyway, since I don't have the money just yet.

I second waiting for the new generation, looks like it can go toe-to-toe with ryzen. So, wait for reviews, pricing, and such before deciding anything.

I disagree, it's easier to upgrade to a ssd later down the line, plus the 1070 is a bigger performance upgrade.
I guess It depends what type of games he's playing and money ultimately. Also keep in mind there's the 6gb model of the 1060 too.

Updated FP:
- Changed Motherboard from Asus - B150M PRO GAMING Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard to Asus - STRIX B350-F GAMING ATX AM4 Motherboard
- Changed CPU from Intel - Core i7-6700 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor to AMD - Ryzen 5 1600X 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor
-
Added Cooler Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler since the CPU apparently doesn't have a built-in one
- Removed Sound Card Asus - Xonar DGX 24-bit 96 KHz Sound Card since the Motherboard has built-in sound

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

you might notice that the new motherboard costs around twice as much as the old one. sadly, this is the cheapest AMD-compatible board over here...
Thoughts on this? https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/cGp7LD
Ryzen instead of intel allows for some room to upgrade from a 1060 to a 1070.
well, the cheapest 1070 sold here costs HUF 159.890 (€ 527.0198), which really doesn't fit into that ~HUF 10.000 (€ 30) room.
Nice build, I would up it from 8gb of ram to 16gb though. Personal preference.
later™
Also, I'd say drop to a 1060 and get a SSD
I'll be continuing to use my laptop's 1T SSD.

Stock coolers are usually junk, and the 212 EVO is a damn good budget cooler.

I won't get into the Ryzen vs Intel argument, but Ryzen is generally better performance-per-dollar compared to non-K CPUs.

If you could swing it, even a 6GB 1070 would be a noticeable upgrade for games that require lots of VRAM (GTA V, a modded Skyrim SE, etc.), although at 1080p I don't know that it'll matter much.

Unless you're a serious audiophile or engineer, sound cards these days aren't worth the cost.

Additionally, a cheap 120-128GB SSD would make a big difference in boot time, although I've heard some Ryzen mobos are so slow to POST or boot to BIOS that they'll add anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds on their own.

EDIT: I don't know exactly which power supply you plan on using, but while a 450W supply should be fine (I can't see you pushing more than 350W without overclocking and adding some case fans), make sure it's at least an 80+ Bronze rated supply. The PSU is one of the most important parts of the build - it it goes sideways it has the potential to take the rest of the machine with it.
