Confirmed Nintendo Switch is using stock Nvidia Tegra X1, no modifications.

All is confirmed the Nintendo Switch is powered by stock Nvidia Tegra X1, same chipset used in Shield TV. The most surprising is the retention of 4 Cortex A53 processor cores, which have no use in the Nintendo switch as they can't be operated at the same time when Cortex A57 cores are running due to the ARM big.little configuration setup.

Nvidia-T210.jpg

After subsequent processing of the GPU from the Nintendo Switch, we have determined that the processor is the Nvidia Tegra T210. The T210 CPU features 4 Cortex A57 and 4 Cortex A53 processor cores and the GPU is a GM20B Maxell core.

http://techinsights.com/about-techinsights/overview/blog/nintendo-switch-teardown/

Nvidia Tegra X1 features
  • 8 core CPU (4 x Cortex A57 and 4 x Cortex A53)
  • GPU is a GM20B Maxell core

A comparison to Shield TV. Switch specs on the left, and Shield TV on the right. The clock speeds are reported from Eurogamer, which are very much true.

  • RAM: 4GB vs 3GB
  • CPU: 1Ghz vs. 2Ghz
  • GPU: 3 modes:307.2Mhz/384Mhz/768Mhz vs 1Ghz

Shield TV is clocked higher initially in both CPU and GPU, but don't forget Shield TV can't keep these clock speeds up for long, it throttles down to the exact switch's dock clockspeeds. Which further supports a stock X1.

Ok so I guess BotW seems like a typical portable game for you or a console game?
Considering the Switch is the only new portable console left (the 3DS is the old, past generation one, and nobody cares about Vita), Nintendo has merged their lineup into their portable line. So yeah, from now on there won't be a difference between typical home and portable games.

Seeing as how they are the first ones to do it. That is why. The PSP Go was not a home console. Even if the Switch is not as powerful as Xbox/PS4, its still a home console with home console titles.

The PSP Go wasn't, but what about the PSP Slim and Lite (model 2000)?
That was the first hybrid console ever, since it had a video out. SONY DID IT FIRST!

The difference will be us getting home console games in a portable capability. How is that hard to understand?

I believe it was the 3000 model that added functionality to output by component or composite using the video out cable.

EDIT: Looks like the feature was added to the 2000 model via firmware but was limited to 480p only.

Funny the Go model has a doc it has video output and can sync with DS3 So really the Go was first for true home and on the Go

It can play PS1 games with dual shock unlike other models when sync to DS3

Guys, even without any modifications the switch x1 has a completely different and more noticeable cooling system than the shield tv (the other stock x1 device) which is already pretty powerful, you also have to note that nintendo manufactured an pretty good and fast OS which probably runs much near to the hardware than stock or modified android, it's the same case as why an iphone with lower specs can run as good as an android phone with better specs.

That and NVIDIA's 500 man years was spent developing the software side, ie they customized low-level software stuff to improve performance even more, specifically with gaming and switch hardware in mind

It was already mentioned, but I'll quote it again:
like psp go was so original, it also was probably copied from portable sega genesis.
The Sega Nomad took full-size Genesis cartridges, had TV Out (using a Genesis 2 video cable), and even supported a second controller. It also had 3hr battery life. And... it was released in 1995.

This "idiotic" comparison was a result of people saying "nintendo did it first!" which isn't true, but no one took it this far like nintendo has.

As a Nintendo fan I too agree Nintendo didn't do it first. Most of what they do isn't a first, but rather they improve upon other ideas. I haven't seen any other system as easy to swap between tv and portable. My NVIDIA shield portable can do portable and tv, but I have to plug in a cable and switching it from 720 to 1080 essentially soft reboots the system and takes a minute.
Nintendo took this previous concept and improved it.

Nintendo did it first, c1980

They did firsts when they started because frankly it was the beginning of the (modern) gaming industry. But at some point they just started improving old tech. Motion control already existed, but Wii improved on it.
Edit: plus we are talking about portables that can plug into tv, not just portable

I have the damn switch. It runs really well, and Poppins are barely noticeable in breath of the wild. I only noticed it once. An since apparently Nintendo is going to fail. I'm going to ask. DO you have a switch. If not then you cannot say the system will fail, or sucks in away since you never had a hands on experince with the system with the system.
Please do not assume things.
Yes, I do not have Switch personally, but my uncles kids do. I had my hands on the console for an hour or so. There's tons of popins in Botw, completely same as on my WiiU. Frame rate is practically the same. If you only noticed it once you apparently didn't play longer than getting out of the cave of resurrection.

Don't get me wrong I'm not a doomsayer or hating Nintendo (seems to be popular to hate it nowdays). I love Nintendo, it helped me get through some of the rock bottom shittiest moments of my life. In all honesty If those magical worlds wouldn't pull me in and make me forget about real life I wouldn't be here now and for that I am grateful.
I've been loyal to Nintendo through all generations, both home and handheld but switch so far didn't convince me much.
I very much hope that changes!

Yep, the Switch is a PSP Go with current tech, right down to the dock.
no, im talking about the concept of a gaming tablet with detachable controllers...... its already been done, yet nintendo fans are like wow nintendo are innovative.

all nintendo have done is copied this concept so it can save money and merge two console markets into one, in the hope this should bring in better sales unlike the wii u.

but even when nintendo claim its sales is the best they have had (comparing to wii u) its not exactly true, because its a hybrid combining two consoles, so truth be told, its sales should be compared to its last home and portable console combined..... which it falls short.

nintendo are hoping that merging the two and this copied concept will then allow them to boast to its investors and third party devs and hope it will get better return and support, but again nintendo dont think about the console hardware and how third parties can release its titles to the console.

thing that annoys me with fanboys is rather than think, this is right why should we be restricted from these type of games, insted theyre like we dont want them, aparently having that option to play a third party AAA title on a nintendo console is a bad thing because other systems have them.

but then, if a big AAA title gets ported (skyrim) theyre like wow we cant wait..... im like meh, already got it, already played it.

all nintendo care about is how they can convince the world that gaming is only fun when using its new gimmick controller and them making games, they have little care about third parties which is why they miss out on some of the best third party games.

but fanboys refuse to see this, i mean even when it was the wii u, i had the exact same view and its fans kept insisting the same shit, and look at it..... its failure had nothing to do with the wii, it had nothing to do with low sales, it was its hardware and lacking support that killed the console.

take the vita for example, for a handheld it had the potential, it had the hardware but it didnt have the support.

the switch may have better sales compared to the wii u, but it failed to beat xbx1/ps4 and if nintendo do not get better sales/third party support then it will be a repeat and will definately die a quick death especially when sony/ms release their next gen systems..... nintendo are always one step behind and trying to catch up.

its bad enough that this is their 2nd console during the same console generation (again fanboys wont see the reason to this)
