Compression support! Since RetroArch can run games directly from archives it's possible now to compress non-NES games using 7-Zip. This feature enabled by default but you can disable it in the settings menu. Also you can add the whole archive (required by MAME games).

Maybe @Cluster or anyone else can answer...is this saying that it will automatically compress any ROM files automatically and then load them? If I already had each ROM in its own 7z file before I add them to Hakchi2, haven't I already done the same thing? Just making sure I am not misunderstanding. Thanks.

Morning all. I reverted back to 2.12 last night as I had the red light issue.

Now that 2.13d is out, I have a question to ask regarding which type of file to use when 'adding more games' in hakchi. I want to be able to have the 'compress games when necessary' option used.

Here is an example of a game for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Which file should I be adding to make sure the compress function in hakchi will work?
Thank you.

How do people add playstation games to the nes mini? I tried adding namco museum vol 1 (pacman, lol), and it initially added correctly (I wasn't over 300 MB), but when I tried to flash, it said the game was too big.

Morning folks,
I am having a problem with RetroArch. If I put any roms in the roms directory it tells me "Access to the path 'Space Invaders or whatever rom.bin' is denied. It works fine without retroarch.

Thanks in advance,
Keithdubya

Well,
I flashed back to original Kernel and tried again with just one SNES rom and it worked. I had been working on this for over 4 hours.

I'm assuming you mean arcade space invaders.

What worked for me (with mame roms) is I unzipped it, and then using 7z, I selected the files, right clicked, then chose archive, and then chose the options 'zip and store'. Then it would flash my mame roms (without saying access denied to pacman.zip, lol). I don't know why this process worked, but it did for me. I think I have had a whole rom set with strange or perhaps outdated compression (just a guess). My 0.78 mame rom set is what I'm using with mame2003.

You've got /bin/zip in the command line arguments for this game
Change it to /bin/fba
i've changed it and the folder is empty... but i have the game in nes menu ...

Is the rom too big ? (11Mo)

Do i change for ONLY /bin/fba/ ? or i leave the complete path beyond ?

current is : /bin/fba /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-Z-DLFCR/fatfursp.zip

Does anyone have a NES game compatability list or chart? It seems as if the original one on google charts has been defaced. I want to check to see if the NES game The Last Starfighter works for anyone. I've tried 2 different roms but both black screen after the title intro.

I believe you can. The n64 z button isn't active so you have to do same thing.

Thank you, and yes, I managed to do that. Though imo, the retroarch control setting is a bit difficult to comprehend at first (based on my mapping on Zelda Minish Cap).

What are you talking about? I'm saying hakchi 2.12-2.13 wont dump kernals, sync games, nothing. It just stays stuck on "Waiting for device"

Oops, sorry, wrong reply. Since I couldn't add my games with XP, I decided to move on to another OS. Currently I'm using Win 7 + 2.13. All went well.

Oh, btw, if I had an alternate Back icon that I want to use, where should I paste it? All I know it's not in "folder images", right?

Seriously WTF is this? Error path since 2.13 and .7z support...
Cancel the flash process,exit hakchi2, del from \temp all content. Then update to 2.13e and try to synchro again.

Nestopia crashes with scanline shader applied, so Cluster disabled it in 0.4:
Code:
if [ "$extension" == "fds" ] || [ "$extension" == "qd" ]; then
  core=nestopia
  crt=0
fi
You're having this issue because you're using an old version of RetroArch module.

Copy user_mods, games, config and dump folders from old Hakchi2 into a new one, that's all.

So if i download the one that came up yesterday i think... then i can use CRT filter?

So how do arcade games work? I added both Donkey Kong and Street Fighter II Turbo to hakchi, choosing "import as archive" when prompted. However, the games wouldn't run- just take me back to the main menu. Then I edited the command line by replacing "zip" with "mame2003." This worked for Donkey Kong, but not for SF2Turbo. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

No, currently it's impossible to use CRT filter with Nestopia. Use kachikachi for FDS games instead.

The roms isn't transferring :'(
Update Hakchi2 to v. 2.13e and try to add the game again, change /bin/zip to /bin/fba
