Last night I flashed my system with both a SMS folder and a Nes folder. Both work well but the SMS games are cut off at the top, how do you fix this?

I tried searching through tread with no luck.

I just completed testing snes9x2005 and can confirm it works near flawless on every game I tested. With Snes9x2010, I experience sound/video stuttering on Yoshi's Island, final fantasy 3 and super Mario rpg. All issues were resolved using the 2005 core. For those needing help installing, follow these simple steps

***If you have not downloaded the retroarch source code from @Cluster page, you must do so first.
1) go here https://github.com/ClusterM/retroarch-clover/releases/
2)download latest source.zip and extract into your user_mods folder. There is no need for the .Hmod file anymore so you can delete it. Hackchi will read any folder inside user_mods as an addin just like an hmod file.
3) you can now add cores using steps below

1) navigate here https://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/linux/armhf/latest/
2) download the snes9x2005 core
3)unzip in your user_mods/etc/cores folder
4) navigate back two folders and open the /bin folder
5) copy 'snes' and save a copy as something else (I.e., 'newsnes')
6) edit newsnes in notepad. Change the ' snes9x2010' to 'snes9x2005'
7) uninstall /reinstall retroarch
8) for every snes game in Hackchi2, change the command line /snes part to /newsnes
9) re-upload your games
10) enjoy!
OK, as I stated before...

I've done 1, 2 & 3 in the source code section.

In the cores section I have done 1 & 2 but I do not have an etc folder at user_mods/etc which is why I asked if I was supposed to create one there. However, I do have an etc and bin folder at user_mods/libretro_core_template.hmod/ which is a different location to what is stated in the instructions.

I have followed the instructions to the absolute letter, three times but I can't add anything to the etc folder at that location because I don't have one where the instructions tell me I should have one and I was mocked for asking if I should be creating one there.

Change the aspect ratio on your tv to 'full' or 'native' or vice versa. Same thing on my tv when playing SMS or Genesis games.

Odd...but the nes games are completely fine. Is there a Retroarch video setting that might need changing so I don't have to switch back and forth? Trying to make this as easy as possible due to the fact my small children play this a lot.

Inside \hakchi2\user_mods you need to put .hmod files and/or folders only !
\etc folder is containet INSIDE .hmod files (they are just rar files) and/or .hmod folders.
If you want to add stuff inside the \etc folder it is supposed you want to add stuff to the emulator module core and you find them inside \user_mods\corename.hmod\etc and\or \user_mods\corename.hmod\bin. If you only have a .hmod file (not folder) you need to edit a template folder such as /libretro_core_template.hmod/ and modify it according to the template readme.txt file you can finde inside the template folder.

Not sure, I'm sure there is, but I just use updates as they come out, I don't fiddle around with adding command lines, etc......Not enough time in the day for me.

Thank you, that makes so much more sense and it's even what I suspected to be correct. It just doesn't say that in the instructions.

I do have a single question that I would assume is very basic. What I'm wanting to add is snes9x2005_libretro.so, there isn't a hmod file or folder for that so do I put it inside the retroarch.hmod file or maybe the snes9x210.hmod file as that's what it's replacing? Or do I use just edit the template?

From installing various builds of RetroArch and core hmod files over each other. Whichever ones I deleted last only removed the files they put in there, not the files previous installs also put there. This is where I am stuck, I need to delete the entire etc/libretro and it will likely take a bash script inside an hmod, if that will even work :\
I don't see how this happens when you add get someone else's mod and put it in user mods. You delete the old one you had in there. Should never be multiple.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Mame core installed in my NES mini and "Aliens" rom running perfectly, pals!

I have only a request: how can I acces to the Retroarch GUI to remap my controller (a SNES one). There's a key configuration for that?

It works automatically with the SNES emulator, but with MAME, some buttons are not configurated.

Please, help!
Boot a game that uses retro. Then hold R L start and select :)

nop, that's an option in retroarch i think. That's what im telling you, with my mod they run in 4:3, not in a small box
I think I found it, looks like a new version of retroarch? Do I just copy all this stuff over the existing files, or is there just one file I'm supposed to be getting?

I have used hakchi and retroarch on my mini, but I have only put on nes and snes games. My question does anyone know of any good n64 and playstation 1 and 2 emulators I could add to retroarch and also does anyone know of a universal controller that will work for both n64 and playstation games. I already use a wii classic controller for snes.

snes9x2002 is even faster than 2005, at a compatibility penalty. if the NES classic wasn't so storage-challenged i'd install all the cores.

I have much retroarch experience from my PSVITA

ok, so I got snes9x2005 to work and Yoshi, Super Mario RPG and Kirby all work infinitely better, BUT
DKC 1-3 look less crisp
AND my SNES save state don't load--just goes straight to the top of each game.
So--I think I'm going to reload snes9x2010 and keep snesx2005, but change the files for the three games mentioned above--hopefully the save states will work again, if not, no big deal, but hoping for better resolution on DKC 1-3 (as they are my favorite games).

I know the answer to this question is in one of the previous 276 pages, but I'm gonna just ask if someone can give me the code to enter into the file (desktop I'm assuming?) to change the three games to snes9x2005. THank you to everyone that has helped me get this far :)

Nope, my current setup use only " --retroarch" arguement. I'm confident that some people's problem comes from a bad choice of default emulator. It is important to uninstall the extra modules, and reinstall them properly in case of glitches.

It could be the those including me that have problems may well be using a bad rom as i don't seem to be able to get it to work

I also just recently thought the Dkc series didn't look as good with 2005 as well. So I did the same thing. those 3 games actually 4 including dkc competition cartridge use 2010. Other snes games I have use 2005.

I'm having a new problem. Every time I uninstall or install hmods, it keeps adding lines to the command line. I think this is why I can't use some of my roms. How can I stop this from happening?

Code:
/bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes /bin/clover-kachikachi-wr /usr/share/games/nes/kachikachi/CLV-H-LSFTO/CLV-H-LSFTO.nes --guest-overscan-dimensions 0,0,9,3 --initial-fadein-durations 10,2 --volume 75 --enable-armet

Google NES romset and follow the FAQ on page 1
I also thought the Dkc series didn't look as good with 2005
Also Starfox runs way too fast with 2005, I am keeping them both. I want 2005 for just a few games (Yosh's Island etc.). I wonder how to edit the argument command line in order to achieve that.

Instructions on how to make a new .hmod folder (you don't need the file, folder will works too) with a new core are inside readme.txt in the template folder.
