How can I install a game by using the decrypted title key if I can't find the cia?

n00b here. Been a long while & getting back into the homebrewing scene. So completely outdated.

Planning to buy 3DS soon & not sure going about with all this but first thing first.
This is as much I understand:
- buy 3DS XL (Black or Red - USA)
- buy R4i-SDHC 3DS RTS
- FW must be below 11.0 to hack

And from here I'm lost.... lol

You want the encrypted one and Freeshop, or one of the other tools. Creates a cia that can be updated.

You don't need the R4 but other than that, all correct. When you have your console follow https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki Or for convenience you can download the whole guide from my page quantumc.at

Alright. Guessing I'm not sure what Flashcart is for then. Thought it was to play back-up games.

Oops, is it? I'll fix that :-) The other ones should be OK. You can use the flashcart for DS games but it won't contribute to hacking your console.

What would be the best DS Flashcard that doesn't kill battery within seconds
I don't need cheats or anything like that. Just want to run DS games.

Have you tried using Usagi theme editor instead?

Yeah as pbandj said you'll need to buy a header, you can't extract one yourself without some extra equipment. You should be able to still go online with a public header though, you just have risk of being banned. I think the cause of you not being able to go online is not lack of private header (unless maybe it's possible to play single player with no header / invalid header)

I have legit games bought, like Kid Icarus and Resident Evil , so is why I wanted to extract them myself.

I own a sky. Playing with a public header is a bad idea, you will get banned. You can play the games offline without a header. The issue with that is once you do get a header you will lose your saves unless you dump them first(not sure if that's still true on the + but was on the old ones).

Is not that I plan on playing Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart 7, is just to get downloadable stuff like extra NPC's in DQVII.

I want to get rid of my emunand which has a NNID tied to it. If I wanna use a new NNID on the sysnand, do I need to system format the emunand to 'release' any connected NNID?

If you haven't yet, you need to put Tubehax's DNS in your 3DS's internet connection's DNS to prevent the update from downloading.

Isn't the DNS down though?
