Hi all,

A question regarding installing arm9loaderhax and the size of my SD card. My current setup is a mere 4GB SD card (I think it's the one I got with my 3DS system), GateWay with 9.9 Emunand. Sysnand is 4.5. Thanks to these forums, I got familiar with Plailect's guide and I am planning to install it to my 3DS soon. But before I start, I hope you can help me with the following.

Like I said, my SD card is small in size, and I wish to use a bigger one (since there wouldn't be a lot of space for bigger .cias such as DQVII). My question is: should I do this before executing the steps in the guide, or can I change to a larger SD card later?

I've tried to copy all the contents of my current 4GB SD card to a larger 16GB one. While the 16GB boots into Gateway mode just fine, it does not boot my usual 9.9 Emunand like it does with my 4GB card. Could I change this, so that my 16GB SD triggers my Emunand too? Or, does this not matter at all and can I just continue the guide ignoring my Emunand alltogether? I've come to understand that GateWay has become kind of redundant over the last few months (due to arm9loaderhax), but I'm not sure if my Emunand is still necessary.

Once you've installed a9lh (without emunand) you can switch sd cards by copying the files from the old one to the new one. It can also be done with emunand but it requires additional steps (https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-transfer-emunand-to-another-sd-card-working-on-new3ds.383684/)

And yes, emunand is pretty much unnecessary if you have a9lh.. except for stuff like wanting to extend the 300 title limit to 600 by having 2 nands and so on.

Does anybody know if there is a difference in load-time/performance when playing a game via physical cart or via SD card (Assume UHS-I speeds. Yes I know, not all created equal still, that's why I said assume). More importantly, with a game like Hyrule Warriors Legends, will there be a difference whether I use one or the other? Just curious. Thanks.
In my experience there is no noticeable difference between SD and cart, but I can test that once I get home with actually times on both o3ds and n3ds

Thanks a lot! :) Do you think a 4GB SD would be large enough to actually install arm9loaderhax, and than copy the files to my 16GB SD once the whole process is done? Or would it be better to ignore the whole Emunand part completely and just try install arm9loaderhax directly onto my 16GB SD?

Just a question about the h&s app injection, can I use a dump from one console into another one?

I have a small doubt.

Can you use a CTR transfer to get to 9.2 through decrypt9 from mset(flashcart)?
a friend of mine still has rxtools sysnand 4.5+emunand 10.3 (yeah i know, old. he's scared to do it because his system used to be mine and i was the one to hack it for him)
I manually updated using plailect guide to 9.2 using sysupdater. But that in itself wasn't really so straight forward, and he wants the simplest solution to get himself up to 9.2, switch to luma+menuhax with the least problems...

Hi, I have a question.
i have an old sky3ds (blue button) that I'm using, and I recently installed a cfw using this guide "https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki".
My question is : Can I use the sky3ds cart to play the new ap check games? or do I have to convert all my 3ds games into cia in the sd cart?

ps : the thing is I can't convert anything since my firware was updated to ver 11.0 according to the instructions of the guide....

make sure you're using 11.1 FIRM. if using luma, delete any firmware.bin in the luma folder and try system update.

3dsident tells my my firm version is 2.51-2
no firmware.bin in luma folder, cant do system update cause there is none available.
system is on firmware 11.1.0-34

I have a question in regards to trying to update. I am trying to update my emuNAND to 11.xx (I'm using ReiNAND); but read somewhere that you should have a clean homemenu before updating. I have a lot of games and stuff stored on mine, so I am here asking what I need to do (if anything) to update my emuNAND to current (I should probably make another backup of my systemNAND as well shouldn't I, just in case? I've been using Menuhax as coldboot to go between my emuNAND and the Homebrew Menu). Also, I don't have a Sky3ds or anything like that if that helps; also using a New3DS XL.

I don't know about blue button, I have orange button and It supported.
But there is a way to convert your games to cia.

Did you install a9lh ?

This is what I would do.

  • Install a9lh using the 16GB card
  • In the optional section for flashing your emuNAND backup to sysNAND, when you are making a backup of the emuNAND and it says you can swap SD cards, swap for the 4GB one with the emuNAND.
  • Copy the backup it makes to the 16GB card.
  • Go back to the 16GB one when it's time to flash the emuNAND to sysNAND.

All what you need is Decrypt9WIP.bin ( download page )
extract Decrypt9.bin to this path \luma\payloads in your SD card.

Rename Decrypt9WIP.bin to any button you want to boot into ( I'm using X button )
Example : x_Decrypt9WIP.bin

Now re insert your SD card and insert your sky3ds to your 3ds.

Choose the game you want by pressing the blue button.

Now turn off your 3ds,

Hold on x button then press the power button
Go to Gamecart Dumper Options then choose Dump Cart to CIA

upload_2016-9-27_1-25-16.png

Product ID: CTR-P-AD7E
so the converted file will be CTR-P-AD7E.cia

Once it done go to reboot your 3ds

go to FBI then choose files9 folder, you will find your CIA there.

Press A then Install CIA

EDIT: You need a space in your SD.

How do I transfer saves from Sky3ds to my SD card so they will work on the .cia installed version of the game. Is there a tutorial for this? Thanks!

I have no idea about hacking stuff and i want to buy 3ds ?
You want one on firmware 10.7 or less then you can follow this: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki
Or download the whole guide and files at once from my page quantumc.at

You can use JKSM. Have the Sky3DS game selected in your cartridge icon then go into JKSM and choose to backup a cartridge game. Then you can pick the cia game in JKSM and import the save file you just made.
