Do I need to make a sysNAND back up before formatting it with emuNAND9? If I have A9LH with SysNAND I thought just copying and pasting the files over after would suffice.

When making an EmuNAND/RedNAND, it's the SD card that gets formatted, not SysNAND. So yeah, backup the SD card contents and then copy them back after EmuNAND/RedNAND is created.

You create it with EmuNAND9, then Luma or whatever CFW can boot that. If using Luma3DS, hold L to boot EmuNAND/RedNAND.

Since creating an EmuNAND/RedNAND means cloning SysNAND, if your SysNAND is not on 9.2, you'll have to downgrade your EmuNAND/RedNAND after creating it.

Also, don't forget to unlink them by formatting EmuNAND/RedNAND.

Yes. And the file you get from GW's website is official.
What is this timemachine data pack on gateway site?

It's the Gateway set of tools to downgrade (Time Machine) and install A9LH. Do not use them as Plailect's guide is better. After installing A9LH using Gateway tools, you can't boot anything else other than Gateway, unless you reinstall A9LH.

It's better to have A9LH installed following Plailect's guide and then booting Gateway the way I described earlier.

I used that method gives black screen on boot. I used gateway 4.0b launcher on it.

Then you have to use the boot manager I linked on that post, since you have a recent A9LH version (also called A9LH v2) that GW does not support yet out of the box.
Yes I'm checking that ctr boot thing. Will get back to you when I get the result on it.

How do I use this ctr boot. it just comes with a armloader.bin file?

How do I use this ctr boot. it just comes with a armloader.bin file?

• Rename the arm9loaderhax.bin that you currently have to Luma3DS.bin
• Copy the arm9loaderhax.bin and a9lh.cfg from CTRBootManager to the SD card root.
• Rename Gateway's arm9loaderhax.bin to GW.bin and put it on the SD card root
• Edit the a9lh.cfg file to have these as entries:
Code:
[entry]
title = Luma3DS
path = /Luma3DS.bin
offset = 0
key = -1

[entry]
title = Gateway
path = /GW.bin
offset = 0
key = 7

This will give you the choice of booting to Luma3DS (default) or Gateway.

You can auto-boot Gateway when pressing the DPAD Down button on boot (that's what "key = 7 is for). If you want to use another button let me know and I'll tell you what number to put next to "key =" on the Gateway entry.

A few days ago I posted about going the CFW route vs Sky3DS. I decided to try CFW and I ran into a slight bump in the road. I was following this guide: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-3-(RedNAND) and got to step 11...... copying files back to my SD card. Unless I missed how to handle this, when I was copying the files back, it prompted me to overwrite starter.bin and boot.3dsx. I selected 'no' and the copy was done. (Did I royally F myself there?) Step 11 just said to copy the files and nothing about whether you should overwrite existing ones on the SD card. The card was formatted right before this step so I'm curious how these files were already there?!

I decided to not proceed any further until I get some clarification here. I mean, so far, everything else worked perfectly (other than the part where I needed to update emunand to the latest version..... it would go for a few seconds them bomb out saying an error occurred and the system would restart. I re-started (being careful to launch back into Luma/emunand) about 50 times and the progress bar would make a LITTLE progress and then bomb out AGAIN requiring me to reboot the 3DS. After nearly an hour and a bajillion restarts, it finally downloaded all the required files and I now have v11 in emunand and 9.20 sysNand.)

So am I good to go? The only thing I noticed different, is after step 11 (and not overwriting the new files with the ones I copied off the SD card before it was formatted) is when I hold down the d-pad and boot into the Homebrew launcher, it's WAY different looking then the menuhax launcher and I have a ton of new programs to launch. I also have 2, Luma 3DS icons?! (One just goes to a black screen and the other fires right up.)

UPDATE: I went slightly further and got to the step about injecting the FBI thing and using both FBI_inject_with_banner.app and the 'no banner' one both result in the same error: hs.enc has wrong size/inject failed

Any ideas?

I have A9LH (I went through the guide) and I want to take screenshots of whatever game I'm playing and have it saved to my SD card. How exactly do I do this? What button do I press? etc

I would prefer them to be uncompressed png files

I only read this part, but it sounds like you are trying to inject the health and safety app with hs.enc which isn't on your SD card, thus giving you the error. When it asks you what file you want to inject the health and safety app with, you need to press down (or maybe up) until FBI with banner app is displayed. This was the reason we create the FBI with banner app in the previous steps.

I think you should really read through the guide again at least the summary parts before you start doing each if the sections. It will make a lot more sense and you will be less likely to brick.

hey guys, having trouble with H&S and FBI inject with banner app.

I used Decrypt9WIP and dumped the h&s app from my GW EmuNAND and did all the steps as required and got my FBI inject with banner app.

But after injecting the FBI with banner app, i can't launch the h&s app at all (Supposed to launch FBI right?)

So it says, the "The software could not be launched. Please download again from Nintendo eShop."

and i can't continue if i don't have FBI in my h&s app, help pls!

If you have a working browser, then follow Part 1 and Part 2 of Plailect's A9LH Guide.
Link: https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki

Follow the whole guide if you want to setup A9LH.

Be sure to do a system format to avoid this issue:
Link: https://github.com/Plailect/PlaiSysUpdater/issues/8#issuecomment-218588857

While I downgrade, It said "an error has occured" and I think I should do partial downgrade but I cant reach my homebrew launcher. I can only reach home menu if I remove SD card and It says my version is 9.2. What can I do now?
