To be fair, Gateway never intended for this to be used with SysNand (at least, not yet!). It's a private WIP build, and will likely undergo many changes. I certainly hope the arm9loaderhax.bin change is one of those changes, though...
Here's the issue, they've spent months working on this release. You would expect with that much wait, that they would be more prepared for this. Not to mention with the popularity of CFW sysNAND, you would think FIRM0/1 protection would have been on the first thing they tackled once they got A9LH working. This is suppose to a Beta release that they are hoping to push out within 48 hours, but it's clearly not even close to being ready and they've had months to work on it.

Actually, all they need are the SysUpdater CIA, the FBI 1.4 CIA, and rxTools (I hear 2.5.2 is good for this). Install the 2 CIAs in SysNAND mode, use the old version of FBI to switch to the rxTools MSET, boot dev mode or pasta mode (depending on version), run SysUpdater and update.
Just saw this post: You can't do this with Gateway CFW, because it blocks FIRM patching and would result in a brick. Additionally, RxTools doesn't support 8.1J MSET, and factory 8.1Js don't have web browsers: It's a rather sticky situation where only Gateway managed to find a way to get MSET ROP working on 8.1J, and I'm hoping the new update will fix all my issues (assuming they also fix what had been discussed many times in this thread)

I guess so, but it might also be the pressure of several customers/haters asking for an actual release date, because most of us talk trash about Gateway, joking about "SOON" release dates and whatnot. I guess it's more silly to think that most of what they're doing is obfuscating already-written code...

They failed to implement even the most basic features (FIRM protection and EmuNAND unbrick on n3ds). This screams "we want to look like we're doing something without putting any effort into it" to me.

The thing, they are using borrowed code, you think they would have at least made sure they got everything right from an already made code.

Yeah, I agree with you there: It's rather odd they'd screw up like this through stealing already-known methods. Though, I still think them setting a deadline ended up with them posting (privately) more of a rushed product: They were and probably are still rushing to get a fixed public build out, and I don't think they expected a leak to happen.

Guys... seriously stop playing with these files, they weren't meant for you and they will only cause you harm. They are for people with hardware mods to test certain functions and then roll back and test again, NOT for public use. The point of this test pack wasn't to see if there was update protection, it was to test the install... it is NOT a finished product, so stop treating it as such.

It's not a finished product that they spent months on, but expect us to be convinced that they will have it finished in 48 hours.

This better not be finished. This is a piss-poor implementation of a9lh and is incredibly embarrassing for Gateway.

You too? Let's keep making excuses for weeks of failed work.

Jesus Christ people. The beta excuse is a slew of crap.

Maybe you should stop assuming this was a finalized version for testing and start assuming it was one code branch which didn't include all the features.
They had months to do it, there are no excuses :)

But also remember that they expected it to be released on the 22nd and it's well past that deadline: They're definitely trying to rush it out to the public, no matter how you look at it. It's definitely not a good/safe idea, though, but I think they've already acknowledged that, emphasizing the hardmod thing in the private build.

They spent 5 months working on a project that CFW devs were able to figure out in a few hours. There's no excusing this.

Some things to clear up:
-The new update is not releasing in 48 hours. It's releasing 48 hours after the end of the beta test, which is at the end of the week.
-3DS CAN be powered on without GW Card, but it boots the GW menu
-There's a good chance that Gateway will fix their problems, as this is a beta test.
-It is much to early to make any final judgments about this whole release.

What we currently know:
-Updating sysNAND after GW A9LH will either brick the 3DS, or remove A9LH from the system.
-It's possible to have 11.0 on Gateway sysNAND while still maintaining A9LH, it requires you flash an 11.0 NAND.bin during the A9LH install process
-The downgrader is extremely unstable. Don't use it.
-N3DS has a 100% brick rate if you use only Gateway's stuff, due to them not unbricking emuNAND before flashing.
-No GBA support, although someone states that they can run GBA in sysNAND.
-DS Games and Flashcards do work in emuNAND.
-Some report that homebrew apps do not work alongside this alpha build.

Please inform of what I'm missing. Will update post. (pls no memes b0ss)
