2DS Suggested Price Drops to $79.99

uIXYwVA.jpg

For all of you late adopters to the 3DS family - hold on just a little bit longer! Come May 20th, 2016 the suggested retail price of Nintendo's increasingly affordable 2DS system drops $20 - from $99.99 to just $79.99.

In addition, some systems will even come installed with Mario Kart 7, arguably one of the console's biggest "must have" game.

That $20 savings can then be reinvested in, you guessed it, more games! 'Nintendo Selects' Reprints of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D, Yoshi's New Island, Mario Party: Island Tour, and more can be bought for $19.99.

As many will point out, the 2DS does not allow you to play games in 3D, but aside from a few NEW 3DS exclusives, it plays all of the same games that the regular 3DS can. For those with children, those who don't care about 3D, and just overall cost efficient consumers; May 20th is the best time to jump on board the handheld hype train!

I have the impression that some guys always are looking for reasons to talk badly about people who own Flashcards...
I don't care if you want to use one or not, Gateway is half the reason there are any cfws now, and sky3ds+ is convenient if you're after that sort of thing, especially considering its cheaper than cubic ninja at this rate. All that said, the sky3ds+ is the third hardware revision. I'm not convinced it will be the last if they think can get away with a fourth.

The only reason a blue button got made was because people were calling them out. Consider that.

If they come with 10.7 firmware or less, I'd get one.
It's cheap as hell, and I can use it to test A9LH and hardmod rescue.
Also, a 2DS with CFW is a very nice gift.
Most off the shelf 2ds's are 6.0 (starting firmware) to 8.1. Only rarely do they even go over 9.2. The Yo-kai watch bundle comes to mind. I'm sure the JPN poke 2ds's might have been 10.3 or so (??? if anyone knows, I would like to know).

I mean a Sky3DS+ can do a lot of things and you can always use it with newest firmwares....what could be a reason to release a 4th gen of Sky3DS? I mean what could do these new Sky3DS better than the one at the moment?
Of course I know that developers always try to make so much money as they can...

If new crypto comes out like the 9.9 stuff I see them making a new one. No one can say right now, but it's just logical they would rather make a revision and have people spend the $80 all over again. If you bought all 3 for $80 each by now you would have spent enough to get a brand new 3ds (or 2 2ds!).

Maybe if they found a way to let people run out-of-region games and games that aren't on the template without having to do anything fancy like using smea's region-free launcher.

The 2DS price drop is cool, but I'm more interested in OoT3D being resold, and at half price no less!

That release of OoT isn't new with this promotion, it's been out for a while. I don't know how long but I do know I saw it in Target about a month or so back. I remember because of the somewhat ugly new look of the packaging to denote greatest hits or whatever they call it for 3DS games.

Are you joking? What you just said was complete nonsense.
I wouldn't expect it to make sense for someone who is apparently so much of a fan their avatar is a Smash Bros character. I love the series too, but I am not so blind to ignore how the forth iteration has lost a lot of the personality the prior iterations had.

say what you want about the design or materials, the 2DS is THE BEST form factor and most durable
I agree. My niece has one. It's very comfortable. I can't say much for large-handed people, but for my small lady hands it's very comfortable.

The plastic quality does feel cheaper, but the build quality is very good so you barely notice it. The single speaker is pretty loud, louder than my 3DS XL's speakers on max volume. I hate how there isn't a wifi switch. You need to go into the home menu and turn on wifi from there.

You are blind to that fact that your opinion is in minority, regardless of my avatar. (Which, of course, not just a SSB character.)

Guess I should have known not to take you seriously base on the avatar you have. (I can play that game to.)

You barely make an actual rebuttal to counter my point. I rest my case.

I really like to see this 3ds of yours that doesn't sacrifice durability and comfort, and still have room for a stylus, controls including the back buttons, 2 screens, battery, game slot, micro sd card, front facing speakers etc.

Seems you are looking at the motherboard, but not the whole picture.

It shouldn't use a stylus, "but Apple released a stylus", yes they did, but this should be used on an iPad Pro for designers to have extreme precision, this is a nonsense comparison.
Vita does not use a stylus and smartphones doesn't either, if it used better touchscreen you'd just use your fingers like everybody does.

It could be thinner and lighter, no doubt about it, but they choose a cheap product to save money.
Vita is was more expensive to do, and yet it comes cheaper. 3DS is just a poorly made and cheap handheld.

I personally prefer using a stylus. Using smartphones that have touchscreens with my fingers just feels... Weird.

"Nonsense comparison". Considering the drawings I see on Miiverse, I say otherwise and all you said that they move away from them and I'll shown they are going back to it. You can't disprove that. Btw just because some tablets and phones don't come with them, doesn't mean people don't buy stylus.

Galaxy Note series and so what? Not everything needs to be the same. People still want and like stylus. Deal with it.
They are given a choice and they don't have to use it.

"No doubt about it". Again where is your 3ds? Where is your handheld that has everything the 3ds has, yet is significantly thinner and still conformable. Oh, and at a sensical price without any strings attached.

Vita was the same price point, but it also came with expensive and overpriced SD cards. It shouldn't have been at that price point.

The only one that didn't make a counter is you, but keep pretending you are in the majority.
Not trying to prove your opinion "wrong", but your opinion isn't widely shared regardless.

Some devices use a stylus, but they are a minority, even them, these devices can support a touch with your finger and work properly, can you say that about 3DS? No, you can't.

Here are some things about 3DS and Vita.
3DS resolution 400x240 (top screen)
PSP resolution 480x272
PSVita resolution 960x 544

PSVita weight: 260g and 219g (slim model)
3DS: 336g (XL) and 329g (New XL) 253g (New) and 235g (original)

PSVita Slim: 15mm
New 3DS XL: 21 mm

Vita: Capacitive Multi-Touch
3DS: Resistive (Cheap, not very sensitive, outdated, nobody uses anymore but 3DS)

Prices at Amazon:
New 3DS XL: $211
PSVita Slim: $160

Is that enough or are you keep going on saying how 3DS is great when we clearly know it isn't?

Maybe you got a faulty unit, my 3ds works fine with or without a stylus.

I guess you can't get it in your skull that the 3ds has more hardware. Not saying it is stronger, I'm saying it has more hardware.
Of course adding more hardware and making it bigger is going to add weight and honestly the weight isn't even that bad to complain about.

Again, just because others are using capacitive, doesn't mean everything has to be the same. If that's the case, everything would have
the Apple design and Apple price and that would just be bad. Resistive is more accurate than capacitive. Using the 3ds touchscreen right now,
I don't see your problem.

-3ds has two screens. Xl being almost 5in each. One being a 3d screen. Vita (and the psp for that matter) only has to deal with one and it got rid the OLED.
-Nope nope nope. Don't care, it can be significantly slimmer and lighter.
-...

$160? That's nice. Too bad you still got to deal with those overpriced memory cards.

Btw, you keep making it seem cheap is a bad thing. Well, I rather pay for the "cheap" memory cards than the overpriced proprietary ones.

I had enough of going in circles, like what I said was going to happen.

Let's hope that with the next Nintendo handheld generations these aspects will look much better in comparison to the PSVita.

It got rid of Oled and it's screen still is better than 3DS ones.
You can use your fingers on 3DS, but it isn't precise.
If they used capacitive touch screens they wouldn't need a stylus.
Saying that they don't use capacitive because everything doesn't have to be the same is pretty idiotic,
what now, are we gonna make smartphones with polyphonic sound and black and white screens and say that?

As I said before, the iPhone 6 is as thin as 3DS top screen part, it has the cpu, the gpu, the ram memory, the speakers, the taptic engine, the gyroscope, the gps, the bluetooth, the screen. Are you really going to say 3DS couldn't be thinner?
You'd need 3 iPhones at least to get it as thick as a New 3DS XL, even if they were iPhone 6Plus, which would be 3 screens,
as big as 3DS XL top screen, and all the hardware.
