I must admit that this DRM thing is original and cleverly designed.
Agreed, shame it didn't work as originally intended (one-time verification) and certain people were quick to jump to conclusions in the last several pages, but it's suppose to be getting fixed today as mentioned in a post that was quickly buried by borderline harassment/spam.

thank god the last 6 pages was all childish bitching
It's almost like most of the population of GBATemp are <18 year olds only interested in getting video games for free since they can't buy them themselves... Nah, it's totally because people feel this strongly about DRM affecting """legitimate users""", totally not them.

As in this thread? We can talk About it but we can't mention a sites name or link to a site. All I asked was if such site existed and that's not against the rules

Of course such sites exist... Hundreds of them... I'm rather astounded you don't already know that.

Hmm. Lucky for you those who have the chance to get Twilight Princess HD before Nintendo take down the download link. But meh, I'm not that interested with Zelda's Child Era. But I assume that I will get 15FPS on my specs

Online authentication and always online required is nothing new or original for that matter.

thank god the last 6 pages was all childish bitching
Covering your ears while yelling "I can't hear you" is the summation of your post.

There was no childish bitching but a very informative discussion about the way drm was being implemented, how funds were being used, among other issues from both users who were displeased with the notion of why is there DRM on an emulator being used to play pirate pirated wiiu games in the first place to other content creators and people who use crowdfunding to support their projects and even users which this DRM has affected.

Meanwhile there are people who are pro drm who started posting childish posts such as "I'll report you to the mods" or "you just don't want to donate and want everything free, you probably pirated all the pateron builds", and generally other "childish bitching" comments.

I suggest people go back and read what was posted, particularly this post http://gbatemp.net/threads/release-cemu-wii-u-emulator.399524/page-483#post-6302219

Why would Exzap sent it to you specially? If you're a patron, just go to the Patreon site and download as normal.

OK, let's see how "informative" this past discussion is.

"These actions you take mimic Hollywood on a smaller scale and have only proven it is a huge waste of time."
It is a waste of time for hollywood and games because people crack the DRM. This has not happened with Cemu, and will not because they just have to wait one week...

"In my own honesty, I was going to become a Patron until I realized you are only mistreating your Patrons and showing you only care about getting money."
This action was made to protect patrons investments... assuming they donated just for the sake of the builds. This is not mistreatment.

"Where are the public posts or any interest in gaining Patrons outside of having a pay-wall only?"
The public releases... one week after the patron ones...

"Do you have a plan in all of this, have you hired anyone, bought equipment or used it for your own personal gain?"
Does it need to? Don't people deserve compensation for using their time to pursue a technically challenging project? It costs money to live. Pretending this isn't important is childish.

"Originally in my Patreon project, I censored everything and ensured no-one would get anything they didn't paid for but I too found my work pirated, leaked and stolen.
It hurt me but I also realized I refused to adapt to changing times.
I loosened things up, showed most of my content for free and the Patrons came pouring in."

The public builds... one... week... later... free...

"Say you don't want to be a Patron anymore but you were in the past and want to use an older version... can't do that."
public builds

"The people here on this website are happily paying you for your work and there is nothing wrong with that, but what they don't realize is, you are punishing them for being a Patron regardless of your intent."
It has already been stated that always-online is a bug, where the DRM fails to register the verification forever.

"As a creator myself with more experience than you have, I encourage you to think about what you are doing and how non Patrons are actually Patrons even if they aren't paying for it... there's more to Patreon than just Patrons."
I believe this is always stated about piracy on all forms of media. Nothing has changed here from any other discussion. Move on, please.

High word count does not make a good argument. I mean, wow, it looks intimidating, but the content repeats itself and has no substance.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
