Yes, but he said that there's no chance of brick if the new sysUpdater is in the correct manner. I was just saying that that's not true, because people with N3DS's may read his post and assume it's safe.
No chance to permanently brick (aka hardbrick) your 3ds with the new sysupdater if you follow the step and check the files integrity. The worst case would be a softbrick.

Contrary to what a lot of people are saying, there's no rush to downgrade. The 3DS can't be force updated so even when a patch comes out for the downgrade exploit, you'll be fine as long as you don't update.
The thing is that you have to format your 3ds to increase the success chances (yes it's real), so if you format your 3ds and don't update your console, you have no way to access HBL without ninjhax/oot3dhax.
And if you don't format, if you softbrick the console, you're forced to download the last firmware.

Right now we can still access browserhax, until 10.4 comes out, then if you blocked the relevant urls with tubehax dns (i believe) you should still be able to use browserhax.
Otherwise if you dont block it, then your browser will be rendered useless and yea, no more hax access unless you had CN or OoT.

Did you read my other post? I caused a hardbrick on a N3DS with the new sysUpdater...
Did you read mine ? I said it is not safeto downgrade a n3ds with sysupdater. IIRC even in sysupdater there's a warning message in red and bold

edit: no, there's no such message in sysupdater but it has been stated enough in the forums

Yeah but if everyone who hasn't tried to downgrade yet just waits for a more stable way of downgrading then there won't be a chance of getting a brick. Again, there's no rush.

True, but 10.1 to 10.3 currently have a userland entrypoint, and 10.4 most likely won't. So there is a rush for anyone between 9.2 and 9.9 who don't have an entrypoint to downgrade from.

Those people must be impatient then. They have all the time in the world to buy either Cubic Ninja or a Sky3DS. However, there are some people out there who probably don't want to spend anything so you're kinda right.

I'm hoping emunand on o3ds will be fine updating to 10.4.... So far emunand on old 3ds has been fine updating.... I wonder if they found a way to spoil that?

After going through the thread, it seems the general consensus for EmuNAND CFW users is to wait for the less intelligent to update their EmuNAND and see how they fare. Adding tubehax DNS now. lol

Yeah, any user either stock, gateway 3ds, or cfw should have tubehax dns in internet settings. Hoping someone with a hardmod will be able to see if downgraging works from 10.4 once it is release although i doubt it.

Then stop making posts saying that there's no chance of hardbricking using the new sysUpdater...

There IS a chance of hardbricking if using a New 3DS.
You mean you can't even boot into safe mode? I think I read something like that a bit ago, but I'm also pretty sure it was fixed (on whatever @Steveice10 was working on... or contributing to).

Doesn't matter to me personally. Both mine are hard-modded and on 9.2 anyway. Just curious about the hard-brick.

Well, following this news I read yesterday, today I proceeded with downgrading my O3DSXL.
Process went pretty well actually. Froze on me 1 time but after that downgraded with no issues. Now the question:
"Now what?"
What cfws are there and the differences?
Essential homebrew? Anything else?

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:

still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
