Odd question, but the search function and the "creating a regular size NA N3DS" wasn't quite clear to me.

I may be getting a JP o3DS in a trade, unknown firmware, but likely under 9.2. I'm wondering if it's possible to either add languages to it (via emunand or CFW) or switch the region completely (again, via CFW or emunand). I am guessing it is, at least via emunand, but am unsure.

What kinda option are out there for backing up sysnand without an actual gateway3ds card?
Thanks
The gateway red card is only required for actually booting into gateway mode. NAND backup, emunand format, downgrade, rom dump etc. are all available with just the launcher.dat. You do need to be able to launch the exploit for your given fw and model.

Anyone tested Puzzles & Dragons on Gateway yet? Does it work?
Not at all sure about this but I recall reading that a higher firmware is required so it might not work on a n3Ds but should on an o3ds with 9.7

I am not at all sure about any of this so continue to seek confirmation.

Is there any way to install Ninjhax without Smealum's website, and any flashcarts? (It has been down for many hours.)

Are there any loaders alternative to Ninjhax currently that can be used?

Thanks!

Hi all, I have a Sky3DS and I have a question. I was having crashing issues in Pokemon X and someone in another thread kindly explained that I should get a better micro SD for my Sky as I have a class 4 and apparently a class 10 is better. My question is, is it possible to transfer the save data across the SD cards, and how do I do it? I'm a couple of hours into the game and I'd rather not have to start from scratch if possible.

Can someone explain like I'm five?

Hey guys, new here though I've been lurking this site for the past 10 years it seems like.

My AceKard2i for my DSi finally went kaput and so I thought about getting a card that could play DS roms on my 3DS.

I asked around on reddit a bit and got suggested the R4 Dual-Core RTS as it could play them on the latest system version of new3DS.

I just got it and so far it's a nightmare. It has this file limit size that also counts the path of the file towards the size so I had to chop all my rom names down to these little stubs while trying to figure out how large the size was (before I realized the path was part of it). The system/UI that it uses is god awful and doesn't support subdirectories so I can't browse all 150+ roms on there in any sane manner. Plus the browsing is super slow unless I "zoom out" where it shows little shapes as representations of my files, but then only gives me my butchered file names instead of the actual game info.

I miss the system/UI that my old AceKard2i had. It let me set favorites, it let me browse through the file system with folders. It moved quick and snappy, let me edit properties of each file right there, rename, copy, cut, move, paste, whatever. I could change the view from one line to detailed, game info or file names, display .sav and .nds or just .nds, anything I wanted. And it worked fantastic. And didn't have this ridiculous file name size thing.

Is there anything I can do to get this card to function more like the the AceKard2i I had running AKAIO? I have seen pictures of R4s running a similar UI and I wonder if this one is able to do the same. As it stands, it's awful and I want to get rid of it.

If I can't get it to run like that, then is there another card out there that will run that UI that works with the current N3DS?

Like, if there is a front end or file browser/launcher that I can even run that would be great. Just noticing when I load up SNemu3DS that it's so goddamn easy to browse files. Would love to be able to just browse the files on my card!

Thanks for your help!

My two acekards went kaput about 18 months ago as well. My boys thank you for the good times smiths.

Get the r4 "gold rts" make sure it says r4ids.cn on the label. I recently bought 2 from modchipdirect.com for around $16 each. They work right out of the Baggie. :) and is Wood is very similar to AKAIO. That is the hassle free approach. You can change the save file extension in settings to match your existing saves.

You could try formatting your mSD with the SD Formatter v4 from sdcard.org and copy everything back in one operation so it is all sequential. That has always worked for me when DS mode flashcarts start acting up.

Hey guys,
What's the process (if possible) for transferring a Sky3DS save to a legit cartridge? I'm enjoying Pokemon X enough that I'd like to buy it, but I don't want to start all over again. I couldn't find any clear instructions out there.

I accidentally bricked my 3DS, because I messed with the rxTools inject functions without really knowing what I was doing. Now I only get a black screen at boot. Are there any tutorials available for unbricking? I was only able to find ones regarding the gateway brick. I have a sysNand dump ready.

Is there a good guide on how to set up gateway on a 3DS, but for it to work without the gateway card after the initial launch? I'm assuming I would need to set it all up then convert and install my games as cia and then never turn it off. Or if I do I'd have to use the GW card initially.

I have my old 3DS that I'm trying to set up for a kid. I can just use my GW card to set it up and if they turn it off do it again.

I've been using GW a long time, but have never used cias so if there is a good guide or if someone can help point me in the right direction that would help a lot.

I just bought a New Nintendo 3DS XL, and since I haven't play any handheld console since 2009, I've got some noobish questions to ask.

  1. Has 3DS hardware durability improve since Nintendo DS Lite? Are hinges on New 3DS XL still easy to break?
The reason I stop playing handheld console was because my hinges of my 2 NDSLs broke after a few years of normal use. (I've never dropped them.)

  2. I have been experiencing occasionally low frame-rate in Pokemon Alpha Sapphire during 3D battles. Is that normal, even for New Nintendo 3DS XL?
I've read that new system suppose to have better CPU. I'm a bit worry that I might bought a defective console.
Or could it be Pokemon Alpha Sapphire does not take advantage of new CPU power...

  3. My New Nintendo 3DS XL (9.0.0-20U) seems to load home menu slower than Nintendo 2DS (6.0.0-12U). Is this normal?
New 3DS will load menu icons one by one where as 2DS will instantly show all of them.
I hope the reason for speed difference is firmware version, not because there might be something wrong with my console.

  4. (Retail Games) Where do games store save files? in game cartridges or in SD/microSD cards or both?
I see that Pokemon Alpha Sapphire use some space in microSD Card. Is that a save data?

  5. (Sky3DS) Can I play a newer ROM without updating my system firmware?
Say, my system firmware was 9.0 and a ROM I want to run need 9.4, will I be able to run it without updating?

  6. (Sky3DS) If I play a ROM that require newer firmware version, will it automatically install newer firmware on my system?
I've read that some games come with firmware data in them, and can be used to update system offline. But I don't know whether these firmware data come with ROMs, or they only come with actual retail cartridges.

  7. (Gateway 3DS) Do I still need to have actual retail cartridges of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D or Cubic Ninja to use Gateway 3DS on New Nintendo 3DS XL system?

Hey guys, I have a question regarding both Gateway and R4i Gold 3DS.

Can we use the blue card from the Gateway 3DS to use as an alternative blue card for R4i Gold 3DS?

My friend plans to buy the starter version for R4i Gold 3DS, so it won't include the blue card.
Luckily, I have a blue card from my gateway. So, I plan to let him borrow my blue card for the installation part.
Hope to hear answers from you guys.

He has 9.6.0 version and by sheer luck, R4i Gold 3DS supports up to 9.7.0 - 9.7.25. It's cheaper than Sky3DS also.

Is it worth buying a second 3DS for online play? I've heard too many different things about playing online with the Gateway 3DS. Do I need to buy a physical copy before playing online with a ROM so I can get a unique header? How do I transfer the header from the cart to the ROM anyway? Or can I just download a ROM and go online? What if I own the digital copy of a game? Sorry for all these stupid questions, I'm confused.

R4 3DS Gold is a DS mode flashcart and is very similar to the blue card so the blue card is moot. It WILL NOT run 3DS roms only DS roms. The r4 Deluxe edition is a gateway clone and only works on fw 4.5 and is an abandoned platform.

If your friend is on 9.6 his only option for 3DS roms is Sky3DS.

I got a 3ds XL running 4.3.0-9E & it came with a red and blue gateway card, I was told it was all set to go but I cant get into gateway mode by holding L with or without the red card inserted. im pretty sure they are old gateway cards.

There is an SD card inside labeled GATEWAYNAND & theres savefiles and LAUNCHER.DAT file but still gateway wont load & im wondering my next step

-edit- everything working fine now, turned out gateway just wasnt installed :)

Yes, but use some word economics for the title.
Thank you for the previous suggestion. I made the post and was basically told that savedatafiler can help me out. Now the question is how to install savedatafiler on my 3DS. Been looking through GBAtemp and other sites and it looks like everyone is using a gateway card in other to access/install savedatafiler.

Problem is I really don't want to buy a gateway card. Is it possible to use savedatafiler through the browser exploit, or would I need to use Ninjahax/Pasta where I'd have to buy Cubic Ninja and downgrade my 3DS? My 3DS is 9.2 so I would be able to downgrade to 4.5, but I'd like to be able to do this without it costing any money if possible.
