It's seems the new LCD Vita is coming to the west (soon?). There are no official news for this, but official multilingual documentation in the Vita manual: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/psvita/basic/power2.html

Note: PCH-2000 is the serial number of the new Vita.

Of course it's coming. We just need to know when it's coming.
Sort of off topic but I'm just going to wait for the inevitable 3000 model that might bring the OLED screen back.

What are you smoking? Of course it's proof. Why would they make a non-japanese manual for the PCH-2000 series if they are not planning to release the new model in the west?
Because multilingual documentation is a common practice among electronic manufacturer. It is common to find different language written manual even though it doesn't show up for that region. Hell my Panasonic TV has a Japanese manual even though that particular model is sold in North American market only.

Vita TV has system language available in English, Spanish, Chinese, etc beside Japanese. Even though you can only log into JP PSN, you can easily switch language by changing region settings.

Probably because it's region free, and they are planning on releasing it in the west. AFAIK, they always planned to. This isn't anything new at all.

And why would you assume that all Japanese users speak Japanese? There's a lot of English speakers out there, among others. Complete documentation is always welcome - for the same reason certain Japanese games come in both Japanese and English or have English menus. It's all done in preparation for a release, that much is obvious, but it's definitely not an evidence that it's coming to the west soon.

Better buy the superior 1000 model while you can.

Why? Typically when a newer model of something comes out, old stock is priced to clear. I'd say wait until the new crappy model is released and the shops are trying to get rid of the old stock.

Whats superior about the 1000? besides the screen which the average person could care less about? i mean i plan on getting this one just for the 1GB internal storage since i don't buy any digital games thats more then enough for saves and i won't have to purchase a bigger memory card just to use the Vita.

Aside from the screen and the lack of 3G/GPS (where applies), the systems are near identical. In fact, the new model has a slight edge due to more comfy start/select buttons and some built-in memory for saves, but I find the original model nicer. I don't like the "frame" around the LCD on the new one.

The 2000 model has a better battery life (some managed to get 10 hours out of it before it dies!), 1GB internal storage, smaller rear touchpad, and better start and select buttons. The screen gets a lot of hate though. Maybe Sony will make everyone happy with the 3000 model by bringing back the OLED and adding more improvements.

1 GB built-in memory for Vita 2000 is somewhat less useful. Some Vita games such as Killzone will easily use over 1 GB from patches. Plus built-in memory does not stack with memory card.

Battery life increase is from the switch for LCD, since OLED is more power hungry.
