Further information about the upcoming Nintendo Switch "Mig Switch" flashcart has been revealed

mig.png

A few days after the monumental reveal of a work-in-progress flashcart being made for the Nintendo Switch, more information has been made available. The previously unnamed flashcart is set to be called "Mig Switch", and the initial Twitter user that unveiled the Mig Switch's existence, After Time X, managed to get in contact with the team behind it all. According to them, they were offered a review unit of the Mig Switch, but turned it down, as the After Time X team fears legal repercussions from dealing with "backup loader" hardware.

Another interesting tidbit is that existing dumps of Switch games will NOT be compatible with the Mig Switch, and backups will need to be repacked to function with the flashcart. Games played with the flashcart can be played online, as well.

The Mig Switch currently has a website, where it is seeking distributors to work together with in order to sell initial limited quantities of the Mig Switch device, with the first units to be delivered sometime in January. The team claims that full availability is expected around March/April 2024. It'll come with the Mig Switch card, and the Mig Switch Dumper, with the latter of which allowing you to back up your games using NXdumpTool.

Why would you have remorse for stealing from a multi-billion dollar company? It was actually pretty funny and I was genuinely angry when I heard they locked him up in an asylum. Like what the hell, he did a lot of crimes but he's just autistic!
This is the most insulting statement I've ever heard towards those people. It's like saying they're all criminals and getting away with it... Hell no...why would you even think that in the first place... No wonder no one is open about themselves anymore when you just want to communicate to get to know people better. This also makes people really uncomfortable and even in life. And no, this is not 'just the internet'.

Grow the fk up...

If it's really $65, not bad, it's a lot cheaper than I thought it'd be. I might get one in the future for fun. Thankfully it's being made in Russia, and they tend to not give a fuck about Japanese or American companies bitching and complaining about x devices.

at least that's what they want us to believe is that it's made in Russia doesn't actually mean that it is.

I didn't know he could walk.
Today's youth don't know much at all about sports as they spend most of their time playing computer games rather than going outside. Still you know how to use the internet as you had the savvy knowledge on how to read and reply. My post was a play on words (if you know what that means). Oscar Pistorius was a professional paralympic running champion that used to run on "blades" and was know as the blade runner - his feet were amputed when he was 11 months old. Still it didn't stop him from murdering his wife.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oscar_Pistorius

When I said that "he thought he could run free" in my reply, it was a bit of a joke. A bit like if you had been decapitated and I said that joke went way over your head.

Anyway back on topic - I'll wait for the reviews about this new card/dumper and if it's any good I might just buy one for my neice as she has a switch but doesn't want to mod it. I don't play or go online with my switch so she can get dumps of my cartridges and won't need to worry about a ban.

I see YouTubers now referencing the pre order site, I sure hope that individual isn’t actually in the US as it appears. I think foreign distribution may work but local US distribution is risky. They didn’t make their state hard to find, I’d be scared to carry such a product in the states.

It's always made on China, no matter what, even the USA rockets are manufactured on China and assembled on other site.
It's the same with premium US and globalist company products such as the Iphone. All the bit's a sourced from China, the Czech Republic, Malaysia, Thailand, and South Korea etc. That way Apple and others can pay the people that make them a pittance and don't need to worry about health and safety laws or pensions, environmentalists, the green brigade or anyone else. They make massive profits and then they try to ban competition from companies such as Huawei and claim it's down to "security" while at the same time allowing "tiktok" and other similar apps on their devices. It's a joke.

The west is well know for this - ship all the jobs and training abroad so you can pay shit wages and not be concerned about the health and safefty of the people that are making your product. There's a reason why children in an african are working long hours in cobalt mines while someone in USA is sitting smugly in their new EV. The US customer pays premium prices, the worker is paid peanuts. The billionaires and Millionaires don't give a crap about people, as long as they are getting their money that's all that matters to them.

It's the same with this mig card though, the sellers will want to maximise their profits so will get it made as cheaply as they can. They don't care what laws are being broken. The buyer will pay the money because it's cheaper than buying full prices for games. Nitendo will whine about this - while still making about $6 billion last year in profits and $8.5 billion the year before. In fact from 2010 to 2023 Nitendo's value was about $67.5 billion, so I kind of don't feel sorry for them that a handful of people with poor wages will be using this to play games that they pirated.

In some countries it's legal to backup your games. In UK for example it's legal to make copies of your own games.

Under UK Copyright Law, end users can make ‘personal copies for private use’ of content they ‘lawfully acquired on a permanent basis’. This means that it is lawful to make copies of materials you have purchased, received as a gift or downloaded from legal sources. However, it is not permitted to copy content borrowed from a friend, rented or unlawfully obtained. Also, the copies made under this copyright exception cannot be used for commercial purposes.

With the expression ‘private use’, the law explicitly allows format-shifting (e.g. converting audio files from CDs into MP3 format) and making back-up copies. You can also store your personal copies in the cloud without infringing copyright, as long as the storage service is accessible only by you.

Unlike in other EU Member States, under the UK private copying exception it is still illegal to share personal copies with family or friends. However, by limiting the exception to these narrow uses, the UK government has tried to avoid the creation of a complex system of fair compensation as implemented in many EU countries.

UK Copyright Law also allows time-shifting of broadcasts. This means you can record a TV or radio broadcast for viewing or listening at a more convenient time.

Makes sense, however what does the United States have to do with this? It seems like it has fair laws on copyright, so why does having the resellers state mean anything? Id like to think it doesnt, right?

The mig switch isn't a copyrighted bit of code or propriotery hardware stolen from another comapny. In fact it doesn't even come with a micro sd card so technically it's not doing anything that's illegal. Only the end user can install copied games on it. In the same way a PC user can download underage porn, it's not the fault of the computer or the ISP but then end user that is doing something illegal with the "tools" they have. It's up to the user to check the laws where they live and abide by them.
