Someone more infosec savvy than me will probably know: how is this happening despite things like 2FA? Isn't 2FA basically unbreakable as long as you control who has the necessary info?

Other people have responded to this much better than I can. Also some of the affected channels posted videos on what happened. 2FA is only security for logging in initially. What these turds are doing are using malware to highjack a session token. Session tokens allow your device to stay logged in for a period of time. Especially when you do more than stay on one page. Such as logging into youtube and clicking on a couple of videos. Every time you click on a video you are going to a different web page. Without session tokens you would have to log in every time you click on a different page within one website. They basically steal that and now the website thinks that the attacker is legitimately logged in and they really are.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.+1 -

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60
