New version of this great, great emulator for NDS came out on ZX Spectrum 30th anniversary.

Changelog:

+ Kempston mouse emulation, including dual mouse in multiplayer.
See docs/mouse.txt for more detailed info.
+ Tape deck now supports tape recording and tape block deletion.
TAP and TZX tapes can record standard blocks, PZX anything.
The recorded tapes can be then saved in save requester like other files.
+ Track statistics about overall usage as well as games and apps launched.
The statistics are additionally automatically saved every minute by default.
If your card is too slow to deal with this and you keep noticing slowdowns,
you may increase stats_write_timeout or set it to 0 to disable the autosave.
You may also remove the ZXDS/stats directory to disable statistics entirely.
+ Builtin viewer for viewing both text and binary files.
* The World of Spectrum online server listings now include text instructions.
* The emulation speed can be slowed up to 8 times.
* The data dump view now allows poking whole 2byte words at once.
* More thorough DLDI startup to work around misbehaving drivers.
* Fixed loading of files from the root directory.
* Fixed playback of RZXs containing multiple snapshots.
* Properly mark SCL disks as such when saving SZX.
* Few minor enhancements (improved PZX fast loading, AY register masks).
* Other subtle changes (file type recognition, avoid snapshot single step).
* Minor bugfixes (delayed IME handling, proper user settings slot).
! Happy birthday, Speccy.

I have a question.
Yesterday, I was using this emulator and connected to WOS in order to play a specific game. Can I save it to my sd card in order to play other time when I don´t have an Internet connection available?

Yes, go to the "Save File" screen, locate the file you want, select it, tap "Mark File", then go to whatever local directory on your SD card you want to put it in, and tap "Copy file".
BTW, if you want to do this for multiple files, tapping the green "Save File" icon in the top menu bar (not the blue bottom one) allows quickly switching between two different directories, which helps tremendously in such case.

Nice one. Great way to celebrate the ZX Spectrum's 30th.
Many thanks to Patrik, for his sterling work on this emulator.

Hey Patrik Rak, is that you ? Welcome to GBAtemp !!!

Glad you came aboard here , this is definitely the place to go for DS news.
I wrote it already on WOS, but let me tell you again how wonderful it is what you are doing with this emulator and the DS emulation scene in general, nothing really can compare to the scope of ZXDS. Your emulator is second to none, regardless of the emulated system.

By the way, somebody asked you if you where considering porting your emulator to another form of handheld or phone, and you explained that the DS was the best system for this kind of emulation due to the touch screen and nice set of buttons.
But let me ask you something else : Have you ever considered , once you are fully satisfied with ZXDS, to maybe write another emulator, based on ZXDS, for another Z80 machine such as the MSX or Amstrad CPC or Colecovision for example ? You have a wonderful thing going on, too bad not many youngsters around here are familiar with the Speccy and therefore not fully appreciate what you've done so far.
So how about it ?

Honestly, once it's finished, I'll be more than happy to finally have some time to use it myself! I really have no desire to invest more time into other emulator of a platform which means nothing to me...

I remember the spectrum from my childhood and I really appreciate being able to play on one again...and I think the idea of having zx spectrum in your pocket or on your ds is just cool.
ZXDS is class (credit to creator :) ), such brilliant features... I really hope that you continue with this project as you have been, it would be great to see all the ideas mentioned on the homepage one day completed in the future (ver 1.0).
I love this emulator, been my favorite ever since I got my ds and always on my msd.

I wondered about saving tapes too, thought that was possible but had not yet tried... now I'm gonna save my favorite games that I usually get online onto my card.
(Can you just save the same format so if I get .tzx because I prefer that, I can just save it as the same file type .tzx I think?)
Seriously, eitherway, how good is that!!! ZXDS blows me away, I really cannot put into words how impressed I am by people like yourself and ywg etc.

I wish you could write a gameboy emulator using your z80 tweaked and your gui style,

(q. for any spectrum fans, I can't figure out how to control "virus" for the life of me though, I select kempson control but I just crash all the time. Can you get anywhere in it? Cause that game looked wicked for back then).

Anyway thank you so much patrick I hope you read this. big fan.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
