I believe the action he took was justified, the last few pages of the old thread were really bad.

Even Costello must of seen through the flawed logic of stopping a shitposting topic. Sometimes the mods really dont think through what they do, most of them mean well but they dont see the bigger picture.

I'm not even sure if even banning is enough. Unless they are IP banned they wont be stopped from making another account.

I don't believe they wanted to shut down the thread permanently, only give it a break to inform people that it wasn't impervious to a lock.

Then the users should be punished, not this thread thats acting civil. Their decision to lock up the thread was lazy and irresponsible. Look at what happened in the short 10 mins after the thread got locked. As I said before users aren't just going to magically become obedient non-shitposters just because they are funneled into here. The logic is just thoughtless.

Yup, everything was going FINE in the thread where porn, slurs, and doxing threats were being posted.

I think he's right, if you strip away us lot posting popcorn memes and the piss take posts there was some pretty rabid stuff going down in there.

I mean posting peoples personal facebook details, threatening people with doxing, showing pictures of retailers but most of all messaging some poor old girl threatening her in an attempt to force her to commit an illegal act of copyright infringement is overstepping the line majorly.

Hence why a few of us decided to devolve that thread into 20 pages of popcorn memes aimed at the absurd fanatics salivating for an illegal game download.

It's when we stopped the zealots got it locked.

Apart the ticket, is it possible that nobody confirmed at least the game size if 10 or 13 gigs (before installation) and if it's ok on 5.5.1 or needs update? :/

The dutch guy opened a thread on reddit answering questions(dunno if I can post reddit links here), so I asked something

me: Does it come with a wii u firmware update? does it require a day 1 patch to run? Thanks.
dutch guy: Yes it did download an update before I was able to play it.
me: which one? firmware update or game update? how big?
dutch guy: I'm not that technical I just inserted the disk and it started an update as soon as I selected the game.

I checked and 0005000e101c9500 is not available, so this is either:

• A firmware update, if true, we might not be able to run this game by current backup loading methods after all, I'll have to wait for my switch pre-order to arrive oversea then.
• Or the said 3GB install, this guy might not be able to tell the difference.
  • From what this guy described, it could be implemented as an on disc game update, IIRC the disc2app will only dump the main game, so we might need a wuddump after all.

Yeah, I've never seen a "This game needs an fw update to run" since Skyward Sword on the Wii. Probably the 3GB install.

But since he got his game earlier, and downloaded the update... ain't he got the risk of being banned?

It's impossible to say. We know how Nintendo responded to SuMo but it hasn't hit any public piracy sites yet so they probably know it's legit. Hope you guys don't mind me lurking here and occasionally commenting when I have some useful input. Got my ass banned from the other thread for being an idiot.

Not sure it's a download, more probably it's an update on the disk itself.
Wouldn't it appear on nus if downloadable content?
So makes sense eshop game = 10 gigs, disk game = 13 gigs (10 base + 3 in dlc or update form for better speed) to me.

Apparently though offering to pay for an illegal copyright violation is perfectly acceptable as is bribery and harassment, posting popcorn.jpgs isn't.

I'm keeping an eye on the 'other' site forums for any information regarding updates seeing as that other post is more concerned with being scammed.
