I have the camera. but it cannot be found when i use a usb loader. when i use the original disk. no problems

have you tried the different merges of hermes cios? I'm not saying they'll do anything, but it's worth a shot if you really want it to work.

- xbox usb webcam seems to work!

- need to extract "IOS58-64-v5918.wad" from the your Shape game's iso (found in Partition 0 / _sys) with Wii Scrubber and install it on the wii. Then it should work!

THAT'S what we were supposed to take away from the subject line and first post?

follow alex' advice, treat this like any other usb peripheral, merging hermes' 222/223 like folks who are using rhythm game usb peripherals do.

and the usb peripherals( like webcam) must be connected on the first or second (wii led...) usb connexion ? cause the hdd can only be on the first, right?

if you can use any USB web cam with the IOS58 wad installed onto the Wii and the game plays then it's worth saving the money from buying the entire game

I tried using my PS3Eye camera but no luck, just get an error screen saying error with usb camera please shut down your wii.

Will try and find the PS2 Eyetoy cam and try that.

@OncleJulien: We'd need an IOS38 merged with IOS58, which doesn't exist. IOS58 has the extra drivers for the camera (or one would assume so, why else include a game-specific IOS?). IOS37 and such is unlikely to know what to do with it, although it wouldn't hurt to try.

@nikeymikey: I wonder what hardware is actually in the camera that comes with the game. If we knew, maybe we could match it to a webcam or something.

This is irrelevant for a USB Loader since the USB Loader doesn't use the IOS the game normally uses.

Assuming we can get confirmation the xbox live vision webcam is compatible, it could be plugged into a PC and it should detect at least the basic kind of chipset being used in it. I believe the webcam that comes with the game won't work in a PC.

Another possibility to look into is that the xbox live vision also works with Macs. That might indicate that other mac compatible webcams would work?

Its like techboy says, we need a new cIOS for this to work on USB. C'mon Hermes how about merging the cam stuff from IOS58 with the already all conquering IOS 222/3? (I gave up on IOS249 for loading games along time ago)

Im sure he could do it, hopefully hes already working on it.

Also isnt it IOS58 that WiiSpeak uses? If so then theres another reason for a new cIOS.

Hello From Spain!

I have a Wii MOD. My Wii is 4.2E
(ModChip D2ALL + SOFTMOD Waninkoko CustomIOS v38 rev 15 + HBC + DVDx patch)

PRACTICE:

- First i TEST make a BACKUP to ORIGINAL DISK GAME.

I TEST 2 METHODS,
one Copy to Wii to a PC by WiFi Conections, using "cIOS DVD dumper 1.2" and Boot from HBC.

Two, i Copy Directment from Wii to a USB HD Connect on Wii, using "Configurable USB Loader"

- Second i TEST my Backups, by 2 METHODS too
wink.gif

one I test connecting WEBCAM "original" on USB Side LEFT (see from BACK), and Boot BACKUP from HD.
The Game Run, but Say "NOT WEBCAM conected".

Two, I test conecting WEBCAM "original" on USB Correct side, and Boot DVD Backup from HBC qith NEOGAMMA.
THE GAME PLAY CORRECT! Play Nice!

NOw, I Test Using DVD BACKUP, Directment with my MODCHIP, and WEBCAM.
THE GAME PLAY CORRECT! Play Nice! Too

thrid, NOW I see WEBCAM "original" and Search on HERCULES -> Webcams. But Not See IDENTICAL MODEL.

I test to connect WEBCAM "original" on my PC with OS "Windows XP Professional SP3", and curiously this is set directly, without asking any drivers.
On Windows this WEBCAM "original" appears as a "USB VIDEO DEVICE" and run, without the need for additional drivers

LAST TEST:

I thought, why not try it with webcams that I have on several PCs.

TEST PC WEBCAMs with YOUR SHAPE on my Wii (TEST with BACKup and With Original DISK GAME too)

Fist WEBCAM PC: using a Generic WEBCAm (CIF Cmos vga) model CLLCHATCAM version 3.0, and NOT RUN
thrid WEBCAM PC: using a true 1.3 Megapixel "SPOTLIGHT WEBCAM PRO" from TrusT (This Web CAM NOT NEED DRIVERS

on Windows), and YES RUN A WORK but the Size Windows is a bit Little that original, and NEED a Major Distance, that WEBCAM "Original"

By that Reason, and My TESTs!

I think that any WEBCAM, manufactured by Hercules, it must be compatible too.
I have watched the feature of some models, and that must have looked without any drivers or software manufacturer

I see several models, but on my tests and descriptions, we find a model that works and also has a viewing angle similar to the game WEBCAM "original"

HERCULES WEBCAM (Possible Compatible WEBCAM)

-> Hercules Classic Link [VGA] (NOT TESTED)

-> Hercules Dualpix Infinite [true 2 Megapixels] (NOT TESTED)
# Autofocus lens offering a wide viewing angle: 70-degree field of vision. Exceptional! At last, the capacity to be seen standing!

-> Hercules Dualpix Chat and Show [High-definition 1.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor] (NOT TESTED)
Please someone, try another webcam or any of the above and works with this game, I am interested to know.
Thanks and hope you will help

Well I know nothing about webcams, but nice post. This is the type of post that people with problems should write.

i don't think this will be a option to merge 58 with any IOS for a cIOS. i have just tried to get a copy of the IOS to check out what needs to be done to merge it, and it isnt even on the NUS server (tried ios58 v5918).

I can pm u the ios from my disc if u want it pune??

ok, after some digging around, this is what i got. when you install 37 merged with 38, here's what you really do...

first, there is a adjustpatch() function called to adjust the patches for different IOS bases. But Due to the layout of the #if 0 statements, this function always does the exact same thing for any IOS base you select. So we can (hopefully) ignore it.

next, you download IOS38 part 0x1(DIP) and 0x11(IOSP/ES/FFS) and save those.

then you download all of IOS37, and overwrite the .app 0x10(DIP) and 0x1b (IOSP/ES/FFS) with the parts from 38. and apply some patches only to the parts which you have used of 38. So the parts from IOS37 are untouched. And you just use the ticket and tmd of 37, updated with the new hashes. Parts of the IOS which have been patched are marked as "not shared".

So I am assuming that the same method can be applied to a merge of 58 and 38. Use the patched DIP and IOSP/ES/FFS and the rest of the IOS will be of untouched 58. Here's some notes I made myself from poking around in 58
Code:
cid - what is it
0a - NCD
0b - STM
0d - usb ech oh0
0e - usb/hid
0f - usb/usbÂÂusb/hub
01 - ECHI
02 - DIPÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ(37 10) (38 1)
04 - OCHI0
05 - SDI
06 - IP address shit
07 - http shit
10 - usb/ven USB_VEN
11 - usb/eth USB_ETH
12 - IOSPÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂÂ(37 1b) (38 11)

As IOS58 is not on the NUS servers, simply modifying the installer will not do. It must be done manually.

So it would appear that you could extract the 58 contents and dump your hermes IOS (37/38 merged). Then copy the 0x10.app over the 0x2.app. And copy the 0x1b over the 0x12.app. Then mark the appropriate content in the TMD as not shared and update the hashes and pack that sucker back and install it. You will still need to treat it like hermes' IOS, meaning you must call the mload and echi stuff before it will do anything cool. And the DIP that allows DVDr reading is still external (it is supplied by uloader/CFG loader/GX) . But this should allow the IOS to support FAT and NTFS and the external ECHI modules so you can use the other USB port if yours is broken.

So somebody try it and let me know if it works as i don't own any of the games that need it and i don't care to own them
