Ah...now that's interesting. :)

So...
1. set up internet connection
2. initiate firmware update (assuming it doesn't automatically bothers you to it)
3. click cancel.
4. play some games for some hours (ey...it'll be launch day ;) ).
5. start firmware update.
6. have it installed faster than before. :)

Oh lol and everyone going I HAVE TO WAIT FOR OVER AN HOUR NINTENDO SUCKS
Still, they could have put a notice it would download it automatically.

Download? Yes. Install? Wouldn't be so sure about that.

You know what happens when you swap firmware files while you're using those firmware files and the differences are substantial? You guessed it - bugs and conflicts. If I were a designer, I would not allow the user to install the firmware while he's playing games - download, why not, but not install.

Yeah, of course. However, this alone would make a major difference to those with slow internet. The installation part should only take 15-30 minutes or something, not the hours people are saying the update takes.

you have to install the updates manually after the download, i guess, like all the other updates. so no installation while playing i guess.
