Hacking Yet another R4i Thread...

First, hello all. First post, I hope it helps someone else in my shoes.

I have a DSi on Firmware v. 1.4.5 and a R4i 3DS (Gold?) Card in a purchase from a work mate. I can't seem to get the R4i card to work. I believe I need to update the firmware on the R4i Card itself, rather then just the SD Card that goes in it, but seem to be unable to untangle how to do so. Would anyone have any suggestions they could offer? I don't have access to any other DS unit at this time, but I might be able to get access to an old original DS if that would help in the process. Please let me know if pictures are needed. I know the R4i Card has many variants, so I will describe it as best I can. Its black and gold, with cascading dots. It says R4i 3DS Revolution for DS (List of all DS platforms) "www dot r4ids dot cn" (spam filter) It has no other markings other then these what so ever.

It has no other markings other then a 6 located over the last pin on the right side, I assume this is a version number.

You might want to try downgrading the DSi to 1.4, as you'll have to do that anyways for RocketLauncher (which will launch CFW). Here's a guide on how to do that: https://dsiguide.me/downgrading-easy.

Without a picture of the cart, we won't really be able to tell you what you'll have to do though. There are many carts that have R4 somewhere in their name, as that was one of the more popular flashcarts & people ripped it off and made things like your R4i.
