I purchased two XP cards a while back and one of them had a problem so I got it returned and replaced.

I just received the replacement yesterday and I'm a little confused about it. It seems to be slightly different than the other one I have. The firmware is version 1.23M.

Anyway, when I hook it up via the writer, I get a message to choose between "Media Center" or "Data Exchange". I never had that option before.

Then when I started playing games and trying to test if the saves would work, when I load the XP Card, I get to choose between 6 save files, and it asks me to write the data first or select the data. That's the confusing part.

I don't really seem to know how to use this version of the XP Card.

Is anyone aware of how the saves are supposed to be used? Thanks.

Hmm, okay. Now I've tried to figure it out a bit, and I want to know if there is a problem with the saving with my card, or that I just don't know how to use this firmware yet. So if any of you know, please let me know.

I'm using the Xp Card firmware, which gives me 6 save files per game. I first format the XP Card and place some games into the card. Then the first time I boot up a game, it just loads the game and I play. I play for a bit, and then I try and save.

The game saves, and I power off the NDS.

I power on the NDS again and try to resume my progress in the game. When I boot up the XP Card, it asks for me to backup the save, and gives me 6 slots to choose from. I choose slot 1 and save. Then I select the game to start playing it. It pops open a window again and asks me to choose which slot (I think it says "save backup" again at the bottom). Then I choose slot 1 again and the window closes and opens again and asks me to choose a slot again (this time it says "save loading..." at the bottom). I choose slot 1 again, and the game loads.

But the game loads without my progress saved. It starts like a new game file.

Now, am I using these slots and saving correctly? Or is there a problem with the card?

PS. I have forcebackup on.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Man, your XP Card is working normally. The problem is this firmware you are using. I have a XP Card 2Gbytes here, and I'm using the DSLinker firmware, it's a lot better and stable too. First, backup your files. Download http://www.dslinker.com/download/udisk_eng_1_39.rar and run it as a game to update your card. After it, format your card (boot and hold the buttons at same time DOWN+L+R+A+B on startup with the disk writer in slot2). Extract the file http://www.dslinker.com/download/xmenu.rar to card's root directory and your games to card. Boot and you'll see the DSLinker logo.
