Just curious if there was a way yet to have xci games on the home screen without the installer. I like being able to have my games on my external hdd. But at the same time I'm not a fan of the sxos menu thing either. Honestly I'd be fine with it of it was my main screen or something because really I just wanna be able to use a tb+ hdd and have all my games together on a one screen in a single program.

Not possible without homebrew that can automatically load and run game.

But SX has close source and doesn't have shared libraries to make something like this.
So only option is to wait for someone to make open source XCI Loader.

Thank you

you want no install but you want to start it always from the Home Menu?
What do you want? xsp?

He want to bypass going to Album and first loading XCI, then running it from Home Menu. Just game icon would automatically load XCI and then run without going to album.

is it really so hard to click album, then click to load the game, then click it one more time on the homescreen to run it?

if that's too many clicks (three!) then just use sx to install it or find nsps and install those with whatever method you like (sx can do that too).

whatever you choose, have fun

No. It isn't an issue to do either way. Me personally I like the ease of use with xci games. Add and remove with ease and no install times, plus my 4tb hdd is much bigger than the 256gb sd I have in it. If I could install nsp games to my hdd and play them instead of just installing them from my hdd this would be a different story. Or maybe if my sxos menu was my "main" menu in place of the home screen. Most might not like that, but I think I would be OK with that.

seconded - I would like (to make, but my coding is nil on switch at moment) an app to scan the USB HDD for all XCI files, make a list and then cache it until the user wants to update the list again. From the list the user can then select an XCI and it'll pass the filename to the XCI mount routine in SX OS. Will be a hell of a lot faster than scanning the USB HDD each time you decide to change to a different XCI.

I have asked and told that it is possible to pass the XCI filename to the SX OS mounting routine.. so being able to quickly scan through a load of XCIs would be great.. as would later additions of being able to bookmark favourites and maybe even auto-load the last played XCI.
