Mod-chip.com ships worldwide

QUOTE.....The Wiid chip surprised me in a pleasant way. Although it has some flaws such as those with the quicksolder pads not also being on the side of the PCB, it performs as you would expect from a current Wii mod-chip. All DVD's I used (including rewritables), the update feature and the region patching (even with rewritables from both – and + R) worked correctly/as expected.....
I have a PAL Wii btw (also stated in the review, but just in case

Saw my first WiiD chip yesterday here in Texas. It's just a 12F pic in a surface mount package on a board. Works the same as all the opensource chips.

Where abouts are you Farami9? I see a USA flag but you are talking $AU.
I do installs for $50 AU +$10 for an open source chip of choice or bring your own commercial/OS chip.
And I do installs for $30 AU for GBAtemp members.
Not trying to suggest that you use me in particular just giving you an idea of other pricing. That guy sounds expensive.

I'd say this new standard he speaks of is really just 'I can buy these chips for half the price of WiiKey and still charge the same'.

To program the chip to a WiiFree or YAOSM or even Wiinja or OpenWii code is certainly possible but you would likely have to solder some wires to the legs of the chip and connect those to a programmer.
I have done this with the surface mount PIC chips not soldered to a PCB but it wouldn't make much of a difference.
None of the open source PIC based mods support DVD upgrade though.
