Disable ssid broadcasting? Then no one (should) even know that there is a wifi connection there for them to hack into

Bad idea then homebrew wont detect your router.

Ive NEVER gotten a connection others than my Wii and my DS.

yeah, sounds like all APs are with WEP and have either 5 digit password or no password (still there's the definition that all APs have WEP

I'm not taking my router off WPA2 just for the DS. I've got the Nintendo Dongle instead. Even though I'm having problems getting it to work on vista.

Just got my Nintendo Dongle as I was also using a router with WPA2. Running Vista, the dongle works fine, I used the vista beta drivers from Nintendo (http://ms.nintendo-europe.com/software/nintendods/winxp/en/index.htm).

I've set the dongle up now using the beta drivers. Though like last time it buggers about too much with network settings. It broke my network and I had to restore to an earlier point to fix it. It connects up to the software does the DS but can never get an IP address, its more hassle than its worth.

WEP is so easy to crack and mac spoofing isn't that hard to do, you can just hang around and monitor what mac addresses are connecting to the router. If your not paranoid yet about using WEP watch this video, its very frightening

I don't see why people get so worried. Maybe it's because I live in a good neighborhood in a house instead of an apartment but if anyone wanted to hack into my network, they'd have to sit in front of the house on the grass in the front lawn, and my neighbors wouldn't do it since they're old anyway. Most of the people in my neighborhood have open networks anyway, and it's fun to drive around and pick 'em up with my DS.
