Hacking Would it be possible to make my 2DS UK compatible with JPN games?

I'm interested buying a couple of 3DS Japanese-only games and I was wondering if there's a way of making it region free?

By wanting this would I need to own R4i Gold card or something?

Not possible at all. R4i Gold wouldn't help at all.

The only way you could theoretically play any 3DS game region free is with Gateway 3DS, but that requires that you be on 4.x firmware.

DS games should still be region free though.

No. That needs a fully working flashcart and none of them work on the 2DS at all because of its firmware revision.

Only thing you could do for now is get a JPN 3ds Game system :/
