Will it support ACTUAL protocols instead of outdated-ass protocols? I cannot use the web browser on my 3DS because literally every page fails to load.

As written in the thread it uses curl behind the hood so it works with HTTP 2

Is this still being worked on? The download feature would be useful for homebrew without a pc

I'm currently working on an advanced web browser for the Nintendo 3DS, currently going by the name "Jermus" on my computer. It will support downloading files, viewing some files, viewing page source code (and maybe later on, editing said source code or saving it locally), unlimited bookmarks (why was this even a limitation on the stock 3ds browser??), among a compact gui based loosely on Windows XP and 2000's appearance, and with a compact, 3x5 font for viewing as much text on screen as possible. Below is a mockup for what it will look like in the final stage of development.

Breakthroughs so far:

-getting cURL up and running properly :glare:

The browser may possibly be able to load webpages the stock 3ds browser can't load! I entered "https://www.wikipedia.org", and it loaded the raw HTML for the page fine without any errors! :wtf:
very cool

I just wondered if I put in a request for universal updater team to add this to their store would that be alright with you
plus when are you going to update it or start working on it again
also could you make a banner and upload it on github

They haven't even made the full version yet, and it crashes when a page is too big.

Yay!!!!!!!! ive been wondering if anyone would ever try to make a better web browser, even tho there isn’t really too much demand for one,,, goodluck!!!!!! :]] vry excited for this! also hehe. Jermus.

This seems amazing so far… I might actually get myself a n3dsxl just to use this. I was planning to buy one for social media until I found that the 3ds’s built-in browser is shit, and then I found this. Do you think this browser will be able to load Discord someday?

I'm no expert, but I highly doubt the 3DS has the specs to ever be able to load the official Discord web client. It just about has enough power to operate dumbed-down mobile versions of sites on the built-in browser, and a more optimized homebrew browser can't squeeze enough power out of it to manage sites as heavy as Discord.

There are third-party Discord clients for 3DS, but most likely none of them work anymore. Discord regularly makes changes to the API, so third-party clients need to be updated regularly to maintain compatibility. The 3DS doesn't have enough RAM to handle Discord properly, so even a current client would perform poorly.
