Hardware windows 7 on usb?

hi, my laptops hard drive is bust, i have been using ubuntu for about a week now but im missing windows programs i.e. itunes WLM i know some people use them through wine but it hasnt worked for me and the alternatives are strange, i can stay with this if i need to, but i would prefer to have a win7 on my 1TB external hard drive until i can can get a new internal one, so does anyone know how to install win7 on an external hard drive?? thanks in advance

Just run the installer and create a partition and install it to the partiton. Then you should go in to the BIOS and make it so it won't try to boot from any other devices.

i did try that but windows doesnt allow me to do that, i think theres a way to use command prompt or something? i have access to a vista desktop if i need to

I think the problem is usb drives are not setup to be bootable by default even if you make the change in BIOS to allow booting from USB
