I'm thinking of upgrading my old notebook pc to a new one but I don't want to get a Windows 8 one. Are there any places or recommendations on finding new-ish laptops with Windows 7 64-bit?
My current one is a HP Pavilion g6 Notebook with Intel Core i5-2450M

You have a HP pavilion that still functions? Wonders never cease it seems.

Classic start (I usually grab it as part of https://ninite.com/ ) solved most windows 8 issues for anybody that was suffering with them, though I should also note that various Windows 8 updates allowed you to bring back the start and nerf the interface once known as metro.

I tend to only see Windows 7 come new with things found in the back of the warehouse, things from more specialist/gaming type setups or custom builds. On the flip side I am seeing a lot of refurb units still some with windows 7 and some of those, mainly former business grade ones, are built like tanks and I enjoy dealing with them about as much as driving a tank.

Anyway what sort of things are you looking at? Games, portability, screen resolution, desktop replacement..... and are there any features you have to have (I consider it a bonus to not have a webcam, others feel somewhat differently).

The gaming type setups sound interesting.

Or you could just buy a laptop with DOS and install Windows 7 on your own.
