well i read your `wall of text`, and i notice this is going to be an argument i don`t want to have.
The first card i ever bought was an R4i Gold. Instead, i got shipped an Acekard Clone, that only works with Akaio 1.8.1.
I bought another R4, this time, something wood compatible. This was a much better experience overall, but still, i could not use the card to play new games.
Now if a noobie comes to this site, and reads your recomendation of buying an R4, he will go out and buy the next best thing with R4 somethign on it. And that is the only thing that really bugs me. As a little knowing beginner in the FC buisness, i would never recommend anybody to buy an R4. It`s that simple really. Sure, i can recommend someone to buy an Acekard and he goes and buys a fake. But what do you think is more likely?
I still think that R4 is the most abused name, and you are best off steering clear of anything with R4 on it. As a matter of fact, go to linfoxdomain.com and see how many different R4 products there are. If anybody were to buy any of these, do you think they would have a good experience?
