that score isnt right add up all 5 scores and divide 5 you end up with 6.1 not 3.9. Ign fails again there's no way this game is a 3.9

3.9
Overall
(out of 10/not an average)

Im waiting till they bring back chaos. and not like in chronicles

Now that I has the game, I can coment more about it.

It is just amazing overall, Graphics, Musics, Story (for a Sonic game), replay (it has online freatures, multiplayer, unlockeable chars and some random extras).

Only the gameplay that aren't that incredible, but IT IS OK. The game after all is a Spin-off, it haven't loops, springs and other fun elements from the canon games, it is combat focused.

Is a little repetitive, but is fun after all.

I would give a 7,5/10 or 8/10 like Nintendo Power did.

doesnt work on pal

will not start unless you update. scanned and identified as update 3.1U_v5

brick blocker: failed gets the black screen of death

I really think someone over at IGN needs to learn how to do math... based off their scores, they give SatBK at 6.1, not a 3.9...

Do that math!

8.5 + 8.5 + 7.5 + 3 + 3 = 30.5

30.5 / 5 = 6.1
Hate to say Genome but you really shouldn't say anything since people could say you can't read. Right at the overall it says not an average. All though I usually agree with IGN I have some disagreement with this review. I'ms ure the game is bad just not 3.9. I really think Matt was trying to make a point out by saying this isn't a sonic game.

I don't care how good a sonic game is to its fans, I lost faith in the sonic team ages ago....

I give even less a damn, if Shadow's in it, which he is.....

What the hell?
Maybe it's you who should learn how to read instead. "Not an average"? What the hell could that possibly mean?
While you're at it, you might also want to learn how to just accept low review scores, especially when the game in question DOES suck, instead of trying to tell people that IGN rated the game way higher than they actually did.

sorry, didn't see the (not an average) thing... was too busy playing the actual game... which is good!

it's a little bit of a mix of a real Sonic game (Genesis) and a 3D platformer... instead of sidescrolling, it's front scrolling... if that makes sense (play it... it'll make sense then!)

I really wanted to like this game. Its just not possible for me. This game was absolute crap and it breaks my heart.

the game is good but they should STOP on spin-off

... kiba93 - great artwork!
Back to topic - I think this new one is a lot better than the last one (Sonic unleashed - I think) and for a Wii game the speed and graphics are fine!
But ... even my wife played it yesterday and her enthusiasm ended after just 10 minutes - Quote: "I think I'm already bored of this game!" ...

I think for free it's worth a DVD-R - otherwise leave it in the store!

The problem with this one, is that it gives a poor frist impression. The game only starts for real after the fake credits screen =p

When you defeat the Black Knight you can forge weapons, change Sonic combat Style, select others characters. Even the level design changes in the later stages =.=

I think that since the learning curve is really complex (it took me over 2 hours to learn how to play)
they made it easy in the first hours of play.

My conclusion is that Black Knight have everything that was missing in Unleashed.

If you remove the Werehog, even with the day stages, Unleashed would be a little generic Sonic game.

Black Knight has all the style that went missing after Sonic Adventure 2.

Well other magazine reviews rate it as mediocre to less than mediocre

Nintendo Power
If you're looking for an engaging, unique, well-polished take on the world's most famous hedgehog, Sonic and the Black Knight delivers. [Mar 2009, p.88]
*Do you think Nintendo would give this a 50?????

GameDaily
Mindlessly shaking the remote gets old and the easy missions pose little challenge, but the storybook presentation, well-animated cut scenes and wealth of hidden items make Sonic and the Black Knight worth a rental.

68
Vandal Online
Undoubtedly, this will be one of the most talked about games of the Sonic franchise. Its story and presentation are good. However, the many errors in control completely diminish the experience and could make many to lose their patience.

64
Cheat Code Central
There are enough levels and missions included in the Story mode, and the Battle mode could be fun with friends. However, the game is not very challenging. The dullness and occasional frustration are tough to overcome.

60
Gamervision
Visually it’s a success, with wonderful blur effects and animations accompanying the colorful world. The gameplay is even something worth paying attention to, as it shows that Sonic Team hasn’t entirely forgotten how to make a Sonic game. However, it falls apart, and the repetitive nature of the missions can become grinding.

Meristation
Sonic is back, but we still don't feel that he's found his style. Sonic and the Black Knight is very much the same game that we first discovered with its predecessor, but with a better graphic engine that makes more the experience more comfortable. Its a shame that the gameplay system is not able to bare the weight of the game. Still, It'll be a good choice for those who are willing to spend some time with sonic the hedgehog.

58
1UP
Black Knight is a competent action game starring Sonic and friends, but one that's replaced the classic gameplay Sonic fans seek with overly simple swordplay. It'll do the trick just fine for younger players still infatuated with the blue porcupine, but everyone else will likely be just as let down as I was.

57
GameTrailers
Why Sega decided to skewer[] one of our beloved childhood heroes on the tip of a clunky, sword-swinging spree is beyond us, but at this point, it simply hurts. Maybe someday we’ll live to see Sonic take back the speed that is so rightfully his, but for now, the only sprinting he’ll be doing is on the bad end of a running joke.

55
Worth Playing
Unfortunately, the execution is so flawed that it is going to take a dedicated player to reach the "fun" hidden within. The controls are awkward and uncomfortable, and the gameplay mechanics are unintuitive. The level design is weak, and the boss fights are simply embarrassing.

50
GamePro
Are the four player mini-games enough to interest those with zealous hedgehog love? Maybe, but it's really too bad that the combat is so annoying, because the game actually looks great, especially the storybook painting cut scenes. Ah well, better luck next time, Sonic.

45
GameSpot
Sonic finds shallow, frustrating gameplay awaiting him in the legendary realm of King Arthur.

40
Total Video Games
Control issues prevent any true sensation of a classic Sonic title from emerging, while any subtle depth is virtually eradicated by the overwhelming sense of simplicity.

39
IGN
This is a Sonic game that craps all over everything that has ever made the series interesting and then adds pointless waggle.

So becareful setting expectations for awesomeness.... Hey they are only magazine articles...they cant be right
*remember if you pirate games they will not get any better - there is no financial incentive for developers to improve titles. So at least BUY a few games this year
**A Message to those that pirate and complain about the quality

The controls suck we NEED another Sonic Adventure Game its classic...its gr8 gameplay, controls, it just works...
Dont waste a dvd on black knight or secret rings the control the same way i wouldnt be at all surprised if its the same engine powering those crap controls...
