If i downloaded a wiiware game and burned it to a DVD will it run on the wii with just the modchip or do i need a program to run it?

use the homebrew channel to boot wadmanager (that's the name of a program), then install the wiiware wad file you downloaded using that.

I am new to this, so please forgive my ignorance. The SD Card I have has the WAD Manager Files on it. Do I just load the Virtual Console games files onto the same SD?? I am a little lost at the process.

It's completely safe. Download the WAD Manager and put the unzipped folder in your "apps" folder. Make a "wad" folder on the SD card and put in any WADs you want to install. Run WAD Manager on the Homebrew Channel and install the VC or WiiWare games you want.
