From their website:
That sucks bad.
But it's a good reminder for everyone to take regular backups of EVERY thing.
i saw the notice earlier and did not believe it.
any ideas? theories? i'm going to have to believe they were hacked
And I loved that site almost as much as GBATEMP.
I wanna kill that guy who did that!
psx-scene NEVER deserved to get hacked!
We're not entirely sure what happened but, rest assured, we WILL be back even if we have to start with a completely blank slate.
Speaking of backups, Shaun, do you make regular backups of GBAtemp?
Backups are made, yes
That was my thought as well. Backups are fairly cheap to make, and can be automated.
It should have even been feasible to dump a copy of the db every month or so compressed to some other location...
Well, that's a tough way to learn the lesson, but good luck putting things back together.
sounds like SQL injection to me
Doesn't google/archive.org keep a cache?
not of the SQL database
I dont think so.
They said thier backup also where empty.
Which means someone must have logged into their ftp and removed all in the .sql backup file.
