Ok, so I shouldn't trust the Wiikey official resellers list or what?

The C1 doesn't look like the top clone. In the clone, the C is rounder and the 1 doesn't have the bottom line. The 3 in R3 doesn't look like it either. In the clone the 3 has a flat top. And the position of C2 is different.

I guess all I can say is that the chip I have doesn't look like any of those pictures. But I should still assume it's genuine because they are in the resellers list.

I guess this effectively makes the clone pics worthless. If your's is guaranteed genuine and looks like a clone, how are we ever supposed to know other than assuming they are correct. Crazy I tell ya!

I took pictures of the front and back Sorry for the huge photos. So what do you guys think?

Some of you are saying it's a clone, but I still think it's genuine because:

#1. They told me it's genuine. I emailed gamersection before ordering.
#2. The Wiikey website has gamersection.ca under the Resellers list.
#3. The fonts used resembles the genuine Wiikey more than the clones.
#4. The back resembles the geunuine Wiikey more than the clones, IMO. (4 partial solder pads visible from back around the rectangular cutout)
#5. It feels good to rationalize that I wasn't ripped off in any way.

it look like a new clone to me look at your chip (ATMEGA8l) don't have some kind of heat mark?

More info about clones

We are currently receiving a lot of emails about clones and companies offering clones. We have not made any official statement on who is selling clones and who is not (except for the obvious scam at www.wiikey.com.cn). There are a few different original wiikeys on the market, with different printing on the ic. The PCB and legend is the same for all original wiikey, however some are HASL (silver color pads) while some are gold immersion (gold colored pads). This chip below is also an original. We are currently discussing other means of identifying clones/fakes, so stay tuned!

I too am hoping it is genuine, i have spoken to the guy i purchased it from and he tells me he has installed oner 40 of them, and when doing the 1.1 update he is able to gdo it without the gamecube controller by using the reset button or something-?/ does this mean anything to anyone, he seems to think if it was fake it wud not let u do this

there are two 'Setup disc': Setup disc v1.0 PAL (requires GC joypad) and Setup disc v1.1 PAL (no GC joypad required, toggle settings with reset)

there are 'no wiikey update' yet...

the guy you spoken about installed over 40 of them he probably try to sell them quick - genuine fake.

Okay ummm ... I contacted Wiikey already, but no reply as of yet. The thing is, why would a reseller that's listed on the wiikey site, sell a clone? That's a major scam if they are. I didn't install this chip yet, but I'm going to install it tonight. If Wiikey tells me it's a clone, then I'll just have to bitch at gamersection.ca for false advertising.

I've also contacted gamersection again ... asking again if it's genuine and attaching pics explaining how they don't match up with any of the offcial pics on the wiikey website. Well, as long as it works (and more importantly, keep working) ... I'll be happy.

But, if I paid full price for a clone ... I would've rather placed an order at dealextreme to get a clone for $10.
