Anyone experiencing issues with Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn PAL running with Wiikey 1.9s
huh.gif

It boots just fine, but the intro sequence has hickups and during gameplay as well. Most of the time it results in the Wii stating "Disc Error, please reinsert Fire Emblem".
When I eject and re-insert the game it continues.

Burned it at 2x, 2.4x, 4x.
Set the WiiKey to 3x, regionfree, dev off, block off. And only the 4x burned works.

Anyone a clue?

Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn pal work on a wii PAL 3.2E with wiikey 1.9s

Haven't tried any Gamecube games yet but the update blocker doesn't work with Obscure The Aftermath. This is sounding a bit crap to me, think I'll change back to 1.9g again.

I tried the update blocker with SSBB, but it didn't work either, but it does when you also activate the Dev.mode.
Did you do that?

Yes there is...had to use Freeloader and once booted the update doesn't show again.

@ noONE - Only had the block update enabled, didn't bother with the Dev thingy as I don't have a clue what it is or what it does lol. Will enable it next time and see what happens the next time I get an iso with an update on it.

It has IOS 36 on it, same as SSBB. Therefore people that are running 3.2 aren't going to see it, which seems to be the vast majority after SSBB released. A disc having an update on it is completely dependent on the users current firmware, they all contain an update partition. Even if you brick blocked the disc, and managed to somehow have lower then IOS9, it would require an update.

When can we expect the US config disc to be uploaded to the Wiikey site? This is ridiculous, I'm waiting here and so far no news at all...

Yeah it's pretty crap. I'm a PAL user and I'm pretty disappointed with this 1.9s update, the wait is not so much the issue but the release has been pretty unprofessional. There's no point in complaining though, as I don't think anyone will listen.

The config disc issue is just another 1.9s problem, once you add in GC regionfree and GC audiofix issues as well it's not worth moving to 1.9s unless you bought SSBB. If you haven't yet, just stay on 1.9g and download, it's much less pain.

Sorry for my newbiness, but I tried to update my Wiikey and it came up with some error saying to check connections or something. Can anyone tell me wat's up with it or how to fix it?

Do other backups works? Or is it just that one?

Alright, I just have a quick question. I installed up to 1.9g, and since this new 1.9s is out I want to keep updated. The only thing is I totally forgot where I got the good tutorial to install 1.9g, and what steps it does take. Can anyone link to me a page, or even describe on here simple steps to upgrade? This would be extremely useful not only for now, but for future reference. I would need to know what discs I need in order to upgrade as well as the steps. Thanks in advance.

Well, I just updated my Wii a couple minutes ago (literally) and this is how I did it.

1) Pick up the filechopped versions of 1.9s and 1.4 config disc(if you don't know how to filechop)
Filechopped files can be found here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/597460
2) Burn both of them on seperate DVD-Rs (I did mine on DVD+Rs since I didn't have any other ones but it still worked...not recommended though)
3) Insert 1.9s.
4) Have a gamecube controller ready and press A when prompted by the screen. It'll verify and when finished, tell you to press A again.
5) It'll start updating the firmware. After it's done, it'll tell you to reboot the console. Push A to do that.
6) Toss in the config disc and change any settings you need (3x -> 6x for example)

Done!

Quick question, in order to downgrade i only have to use the 1.9g update disk, right?

Yes, just perform an update with that disc and it will go back to 1.9g. Remember you will need to use the 1.3 config disc once you are on 1.9g if you want to change any settings.

So, to summarize, is there any good reason to "upgrade" to 1.9s from 1.9g (NTSC-U)? From the discussion here, it looks like:

a) 1.9s will get commercial SSBB working
b) 1.9s will break PAL Gamecube games (running on my NTSC-U)
c) audiofix is same as before (working)
d) 6x (over 3x) is same as before (broken)

Also, there is a risk (very small) that something could go wrong while updating.

Hmmm.... I don't see the incentive here.

Yes, my "games" still work. It just doesn't wanna update. Tried it a few times and got the same thing. Other than that, my wii + wiikey is working fine. My suspicion was that my chip wasn't a wiikey coz i bought it already modded, but i confirmed again with the seller and he was pretty sure it was a wiikey. So any ideas on why i can't update?
