Can I Download a Nintendo ROM from the Internet if I Already Own the Authentic Game?

There is a good deal of misinformation on the Internet regarding the backup/archival copy exception. It is not a "second copy" rule and is often mistakenly cited for the proposition that if you have one lawful copy of a copyrighted work, you are entitled to have a second copy of the copyrighted work even if that second copy is an infringing copy. The backup/archival copy exception is a very narrow limitation relating to a copy being made by the rightful owner of an authentic game to ensure he/she has one in the event of damage or destruction of the authentic. Therefore, whether you have an authentic game or not, or whether you have possession of a Nintendo ROM for a limited amount of time, i.e. 24 hours, it is illegal to download and play a Nintendo ROM from the Internet.

I can only imagine that Nintendo has a much greater understanding of the law than either you or I do, after having undoubtedly paid for the legal advice necessary to understand it.

i am outdated now.. i was busy and didn't have time to play with my wii for like 5~7 months.

i'm using cios 12 and old wii flow... and on system menu 3.2.
and old version of wiiflow... (that was released 5 months ago or something like that).
i want to stay on 3.2 since i don't need the sd card loading.

but what should i do to upgrade?
cios 15? is that the latest? and is it still buggy?
and what version of wiiflow?
will i lose all my themes and stuff for wiiflow if i upgrade to the latest wiiflow?

You'll need new themes for Wiiflow 1.0, but if you download the full pack instead of the light it comes with a good number of themes included. You can now store Wiiflow, themes, covers etc on your USB drive now instead of your SD if you've got a FAT partition on your drive. There's a wealth of improvements over the old beta, and it's well worth the download. Some people are experiencing a bug that causes games to sometimes blackscreen on launch though, which should be fixed in the 1.1 release hopefully due at the end of the week, so you may want to wait for that (although you could just download 1.0 now, and replace the .dol when 1.1 comes out).

I'd recommend updating to the newest cIOS, cIOS38 rev14. It's the most stable to date, and works flawlessly with 99% of games. The loader now supports Hermes 222/223 as well.

Sorry if this is a newbie question but...I made a channel for Wiiflow using Wadmanager1.4. I am getting frequent black screens so I am looking forward to Wiiflow 1.1...once it comes out, what do I need to do to update it? Thanks!

Wow, you got some serious skill at GX programming... you should REALLY work with emu authors to implement similar feature for ROM selection screen !

1: Wiiflow under normal circumstances (w/o Internet Connectivity & cIOS 249, not cIOS 222) will only TEMPORARILY freeze your wii, there is a less than 1% chance of brick. To unfreeze, hold power button on CONSOLE until light turns red - Power back on, and it's normal again!! It is a cIOS Bug, it can NOT be fixed with WiiFlow Code...

2: Lite: No Themes Included. FULL: Large Collection of Themes Included (not sure how many, I think 14).

I've modified my wii with Yafaze's the uber soft-mod guide, so my cIOS is 249.
So I want to change my cIOS to 222 from 249 for wiiflow. Would it okay if I just install 222 using homebrew apps?

i cant help but would how you came to the conclusion WiiFlow has a less that 1% chance of bricking a wii? it should be 0% as its only intenstion is to play games off usb and giving out false info isnt good to anyone

a black screen after you reload any USB Loader to play a game straight after each other is a bug in the cIOS rev 13 and i think it was, where you would need a complete power off to load the next game with out problems, but your best bet is to just update to rev 14, plus Wiiflow has a bug that blacks screen at very random instances that has nothing to do with the cIOS which Hibern is trying to iron out in the next v1.1 of Wiiflow
