    Hi you lot,

    Sorry, I hope this is the right place to ask. There's a custom server available which lets you play Wii online, even though the official servers are down now. I'm having problems getting it to work. I think the main issue is that I'm not running games from disk, I'm running them off an SD card. I used the guide at the bottom of this page;

    https://github.com/polaris-/dwc_network_server_emulator/wiki#ocarina-code

I use WiiFlow to boot games. There is an Ocarina cheats option, but when I use it, it just downloads codes for that game. But what I want is that code off the link above. Is is under Ocarina Code, its just a text file. I tired adding it to my WiiFlow folder, no luck. I converted it to GTC, still nothing. I looked at the file which WiiFlow automatically downloads when you DL cheats for a game, its just a text file. But the text is all strung together and confusing. I tried to manually add the Ocarina cheat to it, but it didnt work. I think I didnt add the right stuff to it for it to read it.

Could anyone possibly help me please? I went to the #altwfc on Rizon page which is linked on that above page, but they couldn't help me. That was the recommended place to go to ask for help, but no luck for me. Basically I guess my problem is that I don't know how to manually add cheats to WiiFlow, which also includes understanding the format that they're in.

    Thanks.

if the text is strung together, you probably loaded it in notepad.
use a text editor which display text correctly, for example notepad++

you need to add the ocarina code you found on the website into the downloaded .txt file,
or create a new empty GameID.txt file with the GameID, the Game's title, and only the ocarina code you found on the noSSL website inside.

When you add the code, you need to add a title to it.
One line above the codes, add "NoSSL [Fix94]" for example.

    Example: RMCE01.txt

Then in the loader enable the "NoSSL [Fix94]" cheat from the ocarina list and generate the .gct

Don't forget to change the DNS IP in your Wii settings.

OK, thanks. I did try to make a .gct file out of it originally, but I will try again. I assumed WiiFLow didn't read .gct files, because when I downloaded cheats through it, they were .txt files.

txt is the human format, where you can edit the content and see the codes. It contains ALL the existing codes for a game.
gct is the machine format, converted for the wii to use with only the selected codes from the .txt file

    edit:
I added an example for Mario Kart.

I see. Do I need to add a description for the cheat? the original file doesn't have one. I don't know where to add it. What do you mean "I added an example for Mario Kart"?

look at my post above, there's a "Example".
copy/paste the content to a file named RMCE01.txt
save the file and put it into the sd:/txtcodes/ folder, it should be enough to be found by the USBLoader of your choice.
Then in the loader, go to ocarina menu, enable the NoSSL, generate the gct, enable Ocarina setting, launch the game.

OK thanks, I will try it now. BTW what does Fix94 mean? Does WiiFlow automatically convery the text file to GCT? EDIT - It appears it doesn't, so I'm going to use an app on the Wii called Accio Hacks.... OK this app does not seem to do it, I will try... Cheat Manager. Right thats done, it has created the file in a folder in the root directory.

In WiiFlow, it still says "Cheat file for game not found". I'll move the file to the GCT folder which is in WiiFlows codes folder. BTW, RMCE01 the American code for Mario Kart Wii?

Damn, it still didn't work. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. EDIT- I put both the .gct file and the txt file in every folder that has anything to do with codes, and it's finally showing up in WiiFlow! So then I gradually took them out one by one, and it turns out the one it's reading is the txt file in root/codes/file.txt. Which is weird, because that is the unconverted file. It's also not in one of the sub folders nested inside, much as /gct. I'm going to actually try to go online now.

yes, RMCE01 is the GameID of Mario Kart Wii USA
if you want the PAL version, it's RMCP01

Fix94 is a user's name. It's common practice to put the name of the person who created the code in the cheat description.

before placing files randomly on your SD or USB, learn how Wiiflow works and where it expects the files and in which format.

for USBLoaderGX, there are two different paths used for cheatcodes:
sd:/txtcodes/ <--- here are stored the .txt files
sd:/codes/ <--- here are stored/generated the .gct files

if Wiiflow uses different paths, you have to know which ones and place the files accordingly.
if you have the .gct, you don't need the .txt
the .txt is used to list codes in the loader in order to generate the .gct

the files must be named after the GameID of the game you want to play.
If it's SMNP01 (mario bros wii PAL), you need to name the file SMNP01.txt and SMNP01.gct
if it's RMCP01 (Mario kart Wii PAL), you need to name the file RMCP01.txt and RMCP01.gct

It seems to be online now BTW, so thats good. Thanks!

"before placing files randomly on your SD or USB, learn how Wiiflow works and where it expects the files and in which format."

Yes I know that. I had previously put the file in the other folders. I had put put the gct file in the correct gct folder, but that didn't work. Even though that would make the most sense. But it didn't work that way. The problem is, I never was given the option to convert a txt file to gct, so I used a seperate app to do it. But that gct file also didn't register with anything. So I decided to just put the text file in what seemed to be the wrong place, and it worked :P . I've now deleted the .gct file I made earlier, because WiiFlow wasn't seing it. Oh and yes, I had originally put the txt file in sd:/txtcodes/. I wasn't just putting files in random places. I just had a last resort, which was copy the files to all 3 or 4 locations, even though I thought I had already tried them all. But what I hadn't tried, was to just use the txt file, instead of the gct one.

Ah yes I was aware of the file naming convensions, I had been doing that from the start, luckely.

There doesn't seem to be anyone online actually playing, but oh well, I just wanted to get it working anyway. You were a lot more helpful than the altwfc channel, thanks.

I didn't test the alternate servers yet, but I'm glad you managed to connect to them :)

Cheers. It seems to be working fine, I tried Mario Kart Wii, it is connected and connects fine, but I didn't find anyone else playing. But I guess that's to be expected; It's early days, plus it'll never have as many people online as the official service used to have. BTW, when the Ocarina file is applied, is it perminately patching the game? As in, when the game happens to be just an ISO file on an SD card or pendrive.

    Thanks for your time.

Ocarina is patching the RAM, the ISO is untouched.

Help! I use wiiflow too, I know how to install apps to the homebrew channel, about cIOS and that sort of crap (basic wii knowledge), but I don´t know how to do all of these "Coding" stuff, and I´m trying to play COD MW3 on the wii online. Tried patching the game with Wiimmfi, did not work; changed the "Auto-obtain DNS" to "No", entered the IP, connection successful, but still, when I open MW3 on Wiiflow, its not working. (Reseted my wii when the WFC went off, but after that here I am, trying to play wii games again) Can someone try to teach me please? I´ve managed to fix Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3 with Wiimmfi to play online again, but STILL cant fix COD MW3. Anyone that is still looking at this post? please reply with some help. Any is appreciated.

COD doesn't require patching. In fact, you should disable any private server patches otherwise it can't update its server list so you can play online. All CoD servers except the first Wii title (I don't think it's MW3) are still up.

No, they're not. Only one of the CoD servers is discontinued. You must disable the private server patches for them to be able to update to the non-NWFC server list. Conduit 2 original server was hosted as NWFC so you have to use AltWFC or Wiimmfii for it.

I'm not sure AltWFC has a separate patcher but USB Loader GX has an option for either it or Wiimmfi. Wiimmfi seems to have more users, though.

Look for the "private server" option if you try GX.
