Gaming Wii/Wii U Virtual Console

I recall hearing that Nintendo was going to do an update that would make the games you have on your vWii partition playable with the Wii U Gamepad. Is this true, or has the update happened? Or am I just confused?

Thanks for the advice guys. I am trying to get A Link to the Past on my Wii U and want to play it on my Wii U with the gamepad.

Ok, then the next part of my question is. Can I play A Link to the Past on my gamepad with gamepad controls? Or do I need to use a classic controller pro or wiimote?

You'd have to use a classic controller. The buttons on the gamepad will not function.

I'm really hoping they take the next step and make the gamepad controller work with vWii stuff. That would be awesome. I know some games need the sensor bar, but for those that don't... the WiiU controller is actually a pretty good classic controller.

NOT Wii U Pro Controller
