Hardware Wii U Won't Update

I'm trying to update the Wii U to 5.5.2 but the console hangs on the "checking for updates" screen. Anyone have a solution?

Why do you need to update to 5.5.2 though, may I ask?

Well it's not only the system update. I can't get into the eShop either. The loading circle just keeps going and going.

First, there's no reason to update to 5.5.2. I recommend you block updates using the proper DNS filters.

The problem you're describing sounds like a problem with your internet connection and not necessarily a problem with the Wii U.

i remembering reading about users having the incorrect vwii ios and it caused the update to fail.

that's what I thought as well, but apparently, it's misinformation that's been floating around.

Actually, I can't access the vWii at all. Not sure why cause I have never messed with it at all. I do remember accessing it at one point but it's been a while.
