Wii U Stuck on Logo

Hello everyone,

First time poster here. I decided to make this post since I am having issues with my Wii U. Currently, my Wii U will not boot up to the main menu. It stays stuck on the Wii U logo indefinitely.

There are a few things to note about my console. The console is the black 32 gb model. I believe it was bought during the 2012 holiday season (release) as we were expecting to play Pikmin 3 before it got delayed. The system has never been modded in any fashion. It was not the most heavily played console, and I can't even give a good estimate of when it was last used (at least more than 3 years).

I have already tried doing the UDPIH, however it does not seem to be working. When using the second recovery menu, I get a white screen with some blue lines (see attached image). I believe this is similar to what @fadafwet described in his post. I was able to get the logs from the system, which I have attached to this post. Any idea what the issue may be and how to fix it? Any help would be much appreciated.

I tried the other laptop. Surprising I already had Win32DiskImager on that laptop. I’m not getting any sort of an error message. The SD card simply isn’t appearing. Should I be getting an error? Right now it’s looking like I’ll need to get one of the confirmed working card readers.

Yes I turned on the Wii U. I only connected DAT0, as per your instructions and those in the guide. I did a continuity check for shorts and everything looks good.

Can you add a pull up to DAT3 on the SD adapter or wire up the other dat signals? Also can you measure the resistance between the contacts of the SD adapter an the other side of the resistors on the board? It should measure arounf 30Ohm I think.

@ChefVortivask Make sure GND is connected correctly (SD has two GND pads, not sure how your adapter handles this).

You did not cut the CLK trace, did you? Cause it won't work when cutted. Also you can't measure a short between GND and CLK with a multimeter (so the DIS pads aren't shorted for sure), right?

Also double check everything is connected correctly:

SD has two GND pads

Micro SD only has one (VSS)

You were right about my wiring, however it wasn't the pins you thought they were. I had CMD and GND flipped. I fixed that and tried again with the first laptop I tried and although I'm still not getting any message, I think the card is being detected, but I can't select it in Win32. I realize that sounds a little odd, but I'm going to try the other laptop now.

How does it show up in Disk Management? Has it the correct capacity there?

It just shows up as MMC card. No capacity indicated.

I wired up the remaining three data signals and tried again. One the one laptop it says that there are 0 bytes and I can't read from it on Win32DiskImager.

Can you look into the device manager if you can see the manufacturer of the eMMC there somewhere?

On linux I would look into dmesg so see whats going on, but I am not sure where to look in windows. Maybe you find something in Event Viewer

I booted into windows, but couldn't find a way to make it display any useful information... So if one of the laptops had linux, that would help

So where do we go from here besides trying to use Linux? Also, what does knowing the manufacturer of the eMMC do for us (I thought the manufacturer would have been Hynix)?

So far, I have checked（or fixed，or give up） ten brick consoles. They are free ， from net friend.
If you are looking for a card reader, you can try this one. But I'm not sure you can find it. It will work very well，and easy to connect wires. Their chip is AU6438BS.
Just hoping it's helpful.

If it can read the manufacturer then we know that clk and CMD are working

Has a similar problem been encountered by anyone else? If not, then I'm thinking it probably is the card reader. If CLK and CMD weren't working, how would we solve that?
