I'm going to buy Wii U tomorrow and it didn't follow Wii Remote and I'm going to jailbreak it.
Does it exit games i can use without Wii Remote? Until I get chance to buy one.

What jailbreak would you you recommend?
  1. Mocha if you want to use the browser each time you need CFW and don't want to buy a DS VC game
  2. Haxchi if you are fine with buying a DS VC game. It must be legitimately purchased.
  3. CBHC if you are fine with buying a DS VC game and want the system to coldboot into CFW, and you're willing to accept the brick risks that come with CBHC. If anything bad happens to the DS VC game it relies on, the system will brick.
Contrary to systems like the 3DS and Switch, you don't really need a perpetual CFW on the Switch, and Mocha often suffices. In other words, you need CFW to install games, but you don't need CFW to run most games.

Haxchi or cbhc if you understand the risk.
You only need Haxchi or ColdBoot Haxchi if your installing games that are sig patched. Plenty of games will run using the Brazilian method of installing the WUP files without Haxchi. If you want all the eShop games you'll need Haxchi or another means of starting CFW.

you don't need cfw for any retail games. digital games/eshop games and dlc require cfw, but there's a way around some dlc. if a game has free dlc, you can transpose the tickets to unlock all dlc for free. only the first ticket is checked in the ticket bucket, which is a fuck up by Nintendo, so even if you installed the rest of the dlc via wup or something, it will work without cfw.

You can also use Indexiine instead of HaxChi or CBHC it basically the same result followed by loading Mocha.

At this time CBHC is the most convenient though. You never have to boot anything after its installed to get into the cfw, you're just automatically in it upon booting your system.

But a DS Game is required and no SD Card your Console is potentially screwed because it constantly trying to load off SDCard at Boot.

Which is why I prefer HaxChi or Indexiine.
Indexiine being no cost solution.
Besides it not that complicated and is fairly quick loading.

1. HaxChi or Indexiine
2. Mocha+FSHax or C2W Patch
3. CFW Required Title or C2W Patched Title.

don't need an sd card unless loading something off the sd card, like booting directly into the homebrew channel. I just added a forwarder to my home menu and leave it booting system menu at boot. the system will boot fine without an sd card otherwise.

Did not think off that that is awesome and much safer.

another option is browser hax, then using sign patcher, which is something cyan reminded me of. I have it if you need it. there are many options, but imo, cbhc is the easiest way to do everything. some people have trouble with mocha like signature patches not working for some reason. I don't know if anyone has figured out the exact cause but it only happens to certain people.

like mocha, sign patcher takes you to the home menu after selecting it, but with signature patches installed, so don't worry or think that it's not working. that is normal.

? I can boot my CBHC Wii U into cfw without the SD card inserted. Not sure who told you otherwise, but they're wrong. Yes you have to buy one $7 game. But such a small price to pay for a full cold boot hack and never having to inconvenience yourself (even slightly) with booting anything else to get into that environment after every reboot.

Now, if you set your CBHC to instead boot directly into a specific homebrew or the homebrew channel at launch, then yes you need an SD card inserted (though you can still change this back to booting into directly into the cfw Wii U home menu without the SD card inserted), but any SD card with the right files will do, you're not screwed if you lose or break your original card or even the SD card reader itself.

I'm not too familiar with indexiine, but I've tried every other method to get signature patches. browser hax is okay with xampp or kws via android, but I don't know how reliable it is above 5.5.1. I'm still on that firmware, and it's close to 100%. it suffers from the same failure sort of thing that the ps4 does except it doesn't kernel panic if it fails.

you do need an sd card if you want to install things using wup, so I'd get a semi-large one. I'm using a 256GB myself. everything works in both wii u and virtual wii. some people have issues with micro sd adapters. I'm using a full size card with the wii u, but I think my wii is using a micro sd adapter. it may depend on the adapter and sd card itself.

Yeah, in general if you're doing any hacks on a Wii U, an SD card will be needed at some point regardless, but this idea that CBHC relies on an SD card being in the Wii U at all times and upon boot for the Wii U to get into the cfw environment, is simply false on Core's part. And yeah, micro SDs in the Wii U have been problematic for many in the past, I also recommend getting a large original SD card, mine is like 512GB and loaded with all my oldschool roms and GameCube games, that way the only time I ever have to swap out my Wii U hard drive with my vWii hard drive is when I play Wii and Wiiware games via USBLoader GX.

I still have rednand on the sd card as well as my cube games (takes a few moments to load up, but no fps issues that I've encountered).
