Hardware Wii U on CBHC asked for system update

I realize there was just a new update that Nintendo added. But I've seen several of the updates come out and I've never seen my Wii U ask for one on CBHC, but just now it did. I restarted the Wii U though and now it didn't ask again. I would prefer not to update because I'm not really interested in playing online. Should I just go completely offline? Or would it be safe to update?

it's safe to update, but if you want to block updates, use dns.
